The lifters are supposed to stay pressurized when the engine is off, but the early design was prone to bleed down, causing the clicking on start up. An improved design prevents bleed down. |

I have taken my 2010 SS to the dealer and left it for weeks during the warranty period they clamed to hear nothing at start up. It happens mostly after sitting for a while. They wrote notes and said if it happened even after the warranty was up they would take care of it. I even gave then a video with the noise and they said it wasn't definitive so they could do nothing.
Now the warranty has expired, it is still annoying. Will take it back and see if the story changes. I have had GM rides most of my life, that may change soon. A lifter noise not the most expensive repair in history but wasn't my expense to pay. May become my problem. Come on GM, too many friends have gone to the Foreign Isle don't send me there! |

Which dealers? Which one did you buy it from? You usually have better luck with the one you buy from, but not always. I have the same issue with mine and I'll be taking it in to the dealer I used to work for- Valmark Chevy in New Braunfels.
