what size headers should I get for my 2011 camaro SS

My next mod is going to be headers & X-pipe but not sure what kind to get? any suggestions??? I already have SLP loudmouth Axle back & love the sound from SLP But I'm confused on which header to get? SLP headers are 1 3/4 & a few others I looked at were 1 7/8 --- which size should I get?? & does it matter??? Please help! is there a right size or wrong size to fit the L-99 V-8? really could use some input from other 5th gen Camaro owners. Thank U

You will gain some power w/ the 1 7/8 over the 3/4 it's not much on a stock motor but if you ever get buck wild w/ the car they will start showing their advantage down the road. the price difference is very little so why not just get the 1 7/8

1 7//8" have worked amazing on theses motors. You won't lose much running a 1 3/4" header though and the SLP set up is nice because it'll allow you to run a 3" system all the way back. The 1 7/8" headers are also nice because they'll give you some room to grow if you add some more serious mods down the road such as a cam, heads or maybe even a power adder. Just as a heads up... that Loud Mouth axle-back will sound INSANE with headers. Very loud and very raspy.

I suggest 1 7/8" headers as well! As far as brand I definitely recommend Kooks. Great performance and high quality. They are also running a ~$100 off special until almost the end of the month, shoot me a PM if you'd like some pricing!

If you are buying new then I would go with 1 7/8" and actually I would really consider the 1 3/4" - 1 7/8" stepped headers.

Like others have mentioned there is very little HP difference in 1 3/4" vs 1 7/8". It's only if you end up adding more power adders down the road. On a stock motor I can tell you that I've beaten plenty of other stock motor (even some with a cam) with my 1 3/4" at the drag strip. I have suspension mods though and most other guys I come across with stock motors haven't touched suspension.

1 3/4 stepped to a 1 7/8 will technically speed up the air in the tubes but come at a Lil costlier price tag. But IMHO I'd stick to a 7/8's since they are cheaper. Ill be installing 2" TSP headers on my cousins car really soon they cost just the same as their 7/8's so why not. It wil be just a bolt on car..........so far lol.

You will see nice gains with 1 3/4 (in the neighborhood of 30 RWHP and 30 RWTQ) but you will see another 6-7 RWHP and 4-5RWTQ with 1 7/8. The larger the primary diameter gets the more air the headers will flow and the further up the RPM range the power band is moved. This means that generally the more power you make or the more race oriented your application is the bigger primary diameter you need, the closer to stock or the more street oriented the smaller primary diameter you need. In the specific example of the 2010+ Camaro SS, we have found that 1 7/8 long tube headers are a great all around header for the typical bolt on modified car that is driven regularly and occasionally taken to the track. They offer a tremendous improvement over stock with room to grow as owners modify their car further.

1 3/4" Tri Y's.... Bottom end Tq is unmatchable.

1 7/8" is the lead that everybody follows too. Can't go wrong either way.

95% of our header sales are 1 7/8". We also have stepped headers that are the best of both worlds. If you have questions, call us @ the number in the sig. We have helped a lot of customers here.
