Canada vs USA?
Does it matter to the average joe where the Camaro is built? I understand the gen 6 will be built in Lansing which obviously will be good for Michigan, but does it really matter where its built as far as a decision to purchase goes?

The more we manufacture products, export, and spend our money right here in the USA, the better..

I don't think it matters, I would buy Camaro wherever it was made!

A lot of people who talk to me about the car know it's built in Canada. Canadians buy a large amount of American products; in fact, almost as much as they export to us and more than anybody else. Plus, I prefer them to some of the US tourists that come visit Florida and my parents are from Maine which might as well be Canada, so I'm fine with it.
For the sake of GM, I hope the guys in Lansing do as good a job as the guys in Oshawa.

When I first got mine I was detailing it in a parking lot after getting my vanity plates, a guy walked up to me. He said he liked the look of the 5th gen and asked me where it was assembled. When I told him Canada he walked away grumbling.

Canada is fine as long as you don't mind having "eh" at the end of all the sentences in the user manual

Not unless you're choosing a car based on pride.

I would prefer an "All American" built car, but that just doesn't exist anymore. I knew the Gen5 was built in Canada (from parts from various countries) but after waiting 45 years to get one, that didn't stop me from buying one. As it turns out, Oshawa did a fantastic job and I couldn't be happier with my Camaro SS - it's a rock solid high performance car. I only hope Michigan can do as well as our Canadian brothers did (I'm a bit skeptical), as I may want to buy a 50th Anniversary addition in 2017.

GM built the town's junior hockey arena back in the '60s. That's why they are the Oshawa Generals. Oshawa has been part of the GM team since well...it's about a hundred years now. Always wondered, just what is it about an American car built in Canada that attacks so many guys' manhood? There is, literally, a pill for that! Nobody seems "bothered" that GM was built on the financial groundwork of a carmaker started by a guy from Scotland- David Dunbar Buick- and sold to a guy named Billy Durant. Yep, that's right, up the Saltire, GM has as it's spiritual father and direct ancestor an inventor from Scotland that figured out how to get porcelain to stick to iron to make bathtubs and sinks.
