Center speaker mistake?

I have removed my center speaker out of my 2SS Camaro and it makes a huge differance. How did they make such a costly mistake, can we after market take advantage of the huge hole in our dash? Beter speaker or gauges?

What a waste, I know someone thought this sounded really good . . ugg.

Escort 9500CI radar/laser detector system has an external speaker, you can take the wiring and solder it to the center speaker.

Here's an idea:

Would it be possible to install a HUD unit in place of the center speaker? I know it would be kind of janky in the middle of the dash, but it could work.

I have not heard Janky in a while! Thanks

BTW I like the external Radar speaker idea personally.

would be a crazy idea... but the cost would be very high..

in order for the HUD to work you have to change the windshield... the 2011 cars have a special silver film in the windshield where the HUD is, that helps reflection... was told you do not want to buy one of the windshields... cause it is close to $1500 if I recall correctly..

$1,000 is what I read. Again I already have to replace my windshield so it's all good.

I read a lot before I unhooked mine. It makes a pretty big differance. Easy to do. Just pry up the grill with your fingers and there are two 7mm screws holding the speaker in. Play a song at a decent level, then disconnect the center speaker, play the song again at the same setting. Tell me it does not sound better with the center speaker unhooked.

I like the idea of using the space for a radar detector speaker. I have a V1 on order.

It enhances the stereo effect you lose by having a center channel that plays both left and right signals of the stereo signal.

No you don't. It works fine without the windshield, just not as defined.

This has been covered extensively here and with the C5 and C6 corvette.

After I remove the speaker I intend to find a way to mount my Droid there with the cradle. Ill be running the power cord down through the grill and hardwire somewhere in the dash

First of all, what is the purpose of the center speaker? If you change your audio system, how does it affect the center speaker? Any ideas on how to make it functional after replacing the audio system?
