Cool 8 Day Test Drive - Camaro SS Convertible

Visiting So Cal for the week, and rented this beauty from Avis. If I love it, I'll place my order when I get home... Over the next few days I will give my opinions and share pictures .

This is day 1, so I took some quick pics because I know this thread is useless without pics...

Awesome, I rented one as well a while back and it was a black one with the rs package as well. For some reason the seats made my back sweat/wet. Did it do the same thing or its just me?

This one doesn't have the RS package, notice the white emblems.

Do they rent 6 speeds? Otherwise, it wouldn't do me much good to try it to see if I wanted one, although I imagine it would be fun for an 8 day rental, for sure!

Please park more carefully!

If you had the GFX included, well....

And congrats on the rental! You'll love it!

They are offering camaro SS convertible as a rental!!?? I wonder how long that tranny/clutch is going to last. For some reason I feel bad for the car.

If you do not mind, can you tell me what the rate is for renting a convertible SS? I rented a loaded LT last November in LA and it was 125.00 p/day.

I have to say I LOVE THIS CAR !

I rented from Avis got a HUGE discount by using the coupon code from costco.com Ins waiver (120) & all taxes(115) included it was $630 for 8 days. They also had LT verts I was lucky enough to get this SS2 . They only rent automatics, probably for the tranny and clutch issues mentioned. They had tons of mustang verts, and the lot manager was very cautious who he released and camaro vert to. He made the desk agent double verify my reservation, the checked me again as he demo'd the top down procedure.

RS? I'm not sure... it has the RS tailights, and I think RS wheels... but I also see the white badges. It is an SS2... seems to have every option.

It has 2200 miles on it. I'd say just broken in. Drove around top down all day yesterday, and did not sweat from the seat... I did have the a/c on. It has lots of power. I haven't taken it on the highway yet, just the surface streets. So I'll report on that later.

HUD is very cool.... I can clearly see it during the day in full sunlight

The top works very well, simple, perhaps a bit too slow ... or maybee I'm in a hurry to get going :-) I will try to take a video of the top going up and down so everyone can see that. The top takes up alot of the trunk space. You pull a space use guide (like a rolling shade) from the back of the inside of the trunk, all space above it is needed for the top to be down. From the airport I had to put my suitcase in the back seat. The rental place did take the time to show me how to operate the top.

Permagrin ? .... well I rather say it's "rentagrin" I do have it... and I would highly recommend it to everyone

Tell me what you want to know.... I'll do my best to answer all questions.

more tomorrow...
