Yeah....I agree I hope the aftermarket come up with something for these gauges. I would like to drop the voltmeter and put my boost gauge in there.

Even sticks have trans fluid alias gear oil and whats wrong with knowing what the temp is in any trans, better safe than sorry.

There's nothing wrong with it, but there are a lot of more useful things too.

Assuming you're running boost.
I'm still on the fence about a supercharger or a cammed N/A setup. - Xanthos

hook it up to your rear end after eating spicy food to measure your personal pressure.

Okay, lets clear a few things up for some of you.....
Automatics use ATF fluid, which is hydraulic, hence the hydraulic torque converter which is what makes automatic transmissions possible. Since they are hydraulic, automatics can get hot, especially if driving up hills alot on a hot day, or hauling alot of weight around. The torque converter whips the fluid up to get the transmission to turn, and it's ability to do that can change if the fluid gets too hot and looses its viscous properties (which is what happens when you pull the trans dipstic and see brown instead of redish clear fluid.) Since manuals don't have torque converters, you can just use 30 weight motor oil in them. Its just a bunch of gears with no real hydraulics invovled. Now, the clutch does use some hydraulic fluid to make depressing it easier and more linear and smoother engaging and disengaging, but nowhere near enough to get cooked (unless you are dumping the clutch at 4500 RPM all day). On a hot day, going up and down hills and hauling alot of weight, if you're good with driving a manual the cluch will be fine and the trans will hardly get warm, unlike an automatic. Which is, for these reasons, for the life of me I cannot understand why they quit making manual transmissions for most pickup trucks. Towing and hauling are BETTER with a stick than an automatic. |

It WAS the TORQUE gauge until gas prices shot up to $4 a gallon.
Then it became not PC, so they made a last-minute substitution. I want an aftermarket TORQUE gauge for that spot! Final answer: Has NO practical use on a manual transmission car, and trans temp is rarely monitored even on an auto trans car.
