AND ANOTHER -- "More Camaro thoughts"....
Most of you know me - and know that I'm, among other things -- a frustrated writer...........here comes another one!
..........sothereIwuz......... ..........sitting in the sunroom this morning with a cup of coffee -- looking out at the Camaro.......... ..........and it's like he's sayin' -- "Come ON Dad! --I don't wanna just sit here in the driveway guarding you from Decepticons..............come on!!!.... let's go scare some ponies!!!" -- ......well! FAR may it be for ME to ignore THAT kinda talk........ So I thought -- OK -- gotta go mail some letters -- and once that was done -- I thought I'd drive up Lakeshore Drive and look at the scenery -- (and scare some Mustangs...) -- several 'thumbs up' from people along the way...... ..... and then I find myself up by Selfridge Airforce Base.............and then I'm on I-94 heading toward Port Huron -- crusing along realizing once again just how downright satisfying this new Camaro is...... I pass a green Honda Mini-van -- and suddenly he's coming up behind me faster than I ever thought a mini-van could go -- gets up alongside me -- and he and 'the missus' are waving and she's taking pictures........ Cool temps -- sun's out - blue sky -- turned on XM -- and Michael McDonald is singing "Sweet Freedom" -- (how appropriate) -- (Hint: you DEFINITELY want to order the Boston Accoustics Stereo -- ) .......got near St. Clair and called Sarge Marge --(who used to be an Administrative Assistant for the Auto Show group -- )...I figured she needed to go for a ride because: 1. -- she's put up with me and the Camaro saga since 2002 and 2. -- she's going thru a Divorce .... (she took the buyout in the fall -- so I only talk to her now and then...) So I picked her up and we drove up along Route29 -- very picturesque as you drive along the St. Clair River -- .......scared some more Mustangs....... We come up behind a White Tahoe -- suddenly it veers off to the left side of the road onto the shoulder -- naturally we slow down -- the two young guys in it are whooping it up -- ......they come back onto the road and one has his camera out -- snapping away...... .....and Marge says to me with big eyes: "does anyone NOT look at this car???" so......put another 170 miles on today -- (Important in that we need to accumulate 500,000 test miles on CTF vehicles in order to ship to commerce.....) ..........and it occurred to me: I don't think it will ever get any better than this. . . . . . . I know -- I know -- look forward.......... .........but there are so many people who waited so long for this car to come back -- ...and it's almost 'magical' to watch people as they see it for the first time ...be it in a parking lot -- in an autoshow -- or on the road. I do believe there will be a 6th gen -- but the difference is that we'll probably go from producing the 5th gen right into the 6th gen. (let us pray!) -- and yes people will look forward to it....... ..........but the long wait has created an 'aura' about this car -- that and its muscular good looks......and it's storied past.......yes, I'm prejudiced -- ....... the car has such an intimidating expression as you look at it from the front.......and it just gives me 'perma-grin.' Oh well - just another silly father going on about his kids........ Thanks for listening........ .................and thanks for keepin' the faith! (Golly - I can HARDLY WAIT to read the stories written by those of you who pick up a new one!) |

does anyone else feel like this is kindergarten/1st grade all over again when FbodFather posts. its like all of us gather around in a big circle and listen to the teacher tell a story.
and then of course there is always one kid not paying attention or asking a dumb question that the rest of us want to kill |
