SS could be a trim package. Anything can/has been an SS. Should be slightly better than RS. I want the Z/28 to be made for curves(light). And it should remain the main identity of the Camaro. RS should be an upgraded base Camaro.....(premium) Z/28 (the code) was created for the handling suspension.... GM: stay true to these roots. just my .03 cents... (inflation)

i honestly dont think their will be a "base" v8. the v6 will be the base camaro, than their will be the v8 options. the ss and the z/28. now i dont know much about motors and all but personaly i think the ss will recive the more powerfull motor(lsa/ls8), and the z/28 will have the lightweight and track handeling, yet decent horsepowerr(ls3/genV motor??) just my opinion tho
im still goan wait till gm has 100% comfired everything

yea i really dont think they'll weigh in at that much probably more around 3500 pounds if they use composite materials, any word on pricing or ss models? i hope they dont keep those prototype headlights that might steer me away from getting one and just putting a bigger engine in my 4th gen

i think if gm wanted to be really ballsy they'd drop the ls9 from the zr1 vette in there as is with a 6 speed that would be a beastly camaro!!! tag it as an ss too

They won't do that, I seriously doubt anyone would even think it could happen. They are not making the Camaro match the flagship top-dog...they never have and they never will.

I don't see why everyone gets all worked up about what level the z28 will be or the SS. with the 4th gens, z28 was the base v8 and the SS was little more than a hood and badging.
If we get two totally different engines for theses two car, thats very cool. It would be even cooler if we get the ls3 as a base v8,I could give a rats ass what badge it has (if any). |

Don't know if this helps any with the weight estimations, but the difference between the LY7 (pretty much the exact same weight as the LLT) and the LS2 (I haven't looked up the specs on the LS3) is 173 lbs.

It was 'rated' at 15 more hp....cost a couple $$$$ more.
As the resident powertrain guru, how much more hp did the SS really have?

There were quite a few options avaliable through SLP including rear end, suspension upgrades, and a host of cosmetic options. There was also a 400 hp package on some of the 35th anniversary additions, but I don't know what it actually consisted of. |

Didn't Fbodfather tell us to "forget what we know about the engines"? I thought this meant no LS3?
