Anyone thinking of dropping an LS9 into their SS?

Wouldn't that be something. Only thought would be the hood clearance for the supercharger.

I think this has been discussed in here before, along with the thought of dropping in an LS7.

Also, someone mentioned that the s/c would fit under the stock hood on the LS3 and LS7, LS9 isn't any taller (san s/c) is it? So it stands to reason that the 9 with s/c would fit just fine under the stock hood as well.

Cost is to much, as talked about elsewhere around here. Putting a s/c on the LS3 is MUCH more cost effective.

Not too sure cost has anything to do with it for some people.
Hell, if I had the extra money I'd drop an LS7 or LS9 into one as well.
A stock 9 is better all-around than a modified LS3 IMNSHO

It's not just a matter of being expensive. Let's say it will cost you $25,000 to do it (I think I heard the motor costs about $20g's). For that money with the LS9 you'll get 650 hp. You could achieve that power level for far less money. Or, you could exceed that power level for the same or less money. The only reason I could see that someone would do it is if they have a lot of money laying around and they want to be able to tell people that it's the motor from the ZR1. But to each his/her own!

I'd like to see the cost associated with rebuilding the current LS3 with forged internals and dropping the compression a bit to support more boost. I can't imagine that would cost as much as a brand new LS9.

After our current series of bolt on modifications I will install an LS9.

With a aftermarket cam and a set of Kooks 2" headers it should be 700+ horsepower.

It looks like late August or early September is when I have rough sheduled.

Lingenfelter should have the fuel pump controller done long before then.

i will get a body in white and install an LS7 only because it is naturally aspirated. the LS9 is just a supercharged LS3.

We are presently doing the LS9 swap into the 2010 Camaro... Very fun project to say the least!
