Ram air. The design of it is quite different from the traditional style. Check it on YouTube

I have them on my Corvette and Camaro.
Its the only air intake the truly take air from outside the engine bay and directly connect the cold air to the engine. Dyno test with a fan don't show crazy numbers. Real life applicant at speed, makes me also have to make the car richer, and they make the cars go deeper into the cylinder mass tables ( makes the car breath better)

This is why I really like my Vararam intake on my 2010 LLT. I went from an AirRaid intake to this and the difference was noticeable. If you can readily notice a power difference from one basic bolt on intake to the next, that's pretty big in my opinion.

That difference happens at speed...the car just pulls so well when your moving. From a dig...I'd say its no better than the others but once you start moving that's when it seems to work better than the others.

Only other intake I would likely consider would be a CAI with a scoop to help it breath the outside air better like the Vararam does.

Hopefully you guys get a version like the LLT and not a traditional style intake.

I have a functional ram air hood that has an outlet at the normal intake position...Not sure if it makes any extra power as I have not had it on the dyno. But it sure does look and sound cool. It is not a true ram air, due to the cai not being sealed at the bottom, but it could be.

So I've decided to try and make the 10-11 model vararam fit on an LFX engine... Keep your eyes peeled.

Awesome!! Basically, it won't work due to the MAF sensor and the radiator, correct? Or am I wrong?

Haven't seen anything but like they said around February so keep an eye out on their website. You'd think they would be promoting it since it's already half way through January but who knows!

Ah yes, "ram air". I don't know where I saw this origionally, perhaps on C5 somewhere, but every time I hear the term "ram air" I think of this:

http://www.paladinmicro.com/documents/RamAirMyth.pdf

In other words, there's no such thing. The benefit to any of our cold air intakes is 1) cold air and 2) less restriction. No matter what you do, there's no ramming of any air going on unless you can manage to go really really fast.

Not saying the Vararam is no good, I'm sure it'll be great, just saying there's no such thing as ram air on cars.

I have no clue how you will do this, but more power to ya! lol.

If you alter the intake shape much at all you'll change the characteristics. I religiously read the original vararam thread when it was released for the older V6 models and it was really surprising at how they said such a small change to the intake made a difference.

I read the exact same thing. You are right..there may be no such thing.

That said, the Vararam simply works, and it has direct access to the coolest air which can't be said for all other intakes, and I believe that is the difference.
