Camaro vs Corvette

Well I know I am lucky as I have both ! If your a Crazy Car Guy this may be the BEST 2 cars to have. Anyway here is the scoop.

I have a 2012 Camaro 45th Edition and a 2010 Corvette Grand Sport. Both have 6 Speed Manual. I Love both cars but you can't really compare these cars as the Camaro is a Great Great Two plus Two and the Corvette GS is a True Sports Car.

Now Camaro guys don't get bent out of shape because I LOVE my Camaro and NEVER NEVER plan on selling this Great car ..... but from a Pure Performance Basis my Grand Sport.... Spec wise has only 10 more HP..... but feels like 210 more HP.

OK so why ? well how about Almost 700 Pounds Lighter with better Areo and better tires for starters. Also a lot of you may not know this but if you Order a Grand Sport Corvette with a 6 Speed Manual Only ( Not Automatic ) the Motor is Hand Built in the Same Engine Plant that Builds the Z06 and ZR1 Motors because a 6 Speed Manual Grand Sport also gets the Same Dry Sump oil system that the Z06 & ZR1 get with the 11 & half Quart Oil Canister and Pump that Continually Pumps Oil through your Engine.

This is right out of Racing Land and Increases Performance. Also a 6 Speed GS also gets a Differential Cooler and the Battery is moved to the Right Rear Conner under the hatch for better weight distribution and handling ...and better Corvette Brakes.... Wider Body.

On a Road Course it would be no contest ..... Remember 700 pounds less ...Better Aero .... Better Brakes ... Better Tires. I have done some Road Racing and that 700 Pounds or 1000 more for a ZL1 would go through the Tires and Brakes much much Faster ! This would also apply to twisty, windy country roads too.

So I'm not putting down an SS Camaro...... It's a Great Great Car and I love my Camaro but in different Ways .... Also where do you think Camaro gets its Performance Goodies From !!!

Also the Leather Interior is a Level Higher and you get Climate Control not just AC and the Sound System is a Higher Level .... Ect Ect Etc.

I have had 4 Corvettes and 3 Camaros and they both have Great things to Love.

Enjoy Them Both !! If you can !!

Well, the GS is double the price of an SS. It should be at least twice as good. Right?

I know I'm not the only one thinking this but I'll be the first to ask, what is the point of this thread? I too had a Corvette but traded it in on my 2012 Camaro SS. Mine was a 2007 Z51 which is before the GS but they had a specific transmission, gear ratio, suspension, tires and a cooler for everything. Although I agree that it's better at a lot of things than my Camaro I also know that it's because that's the point. Not to come off as an asshole but I'm pretty sure most people here understand that the C6 trumps the Camaro in many aspects of raw performance.

Try getting three people and three sets of golf clubs in your vette

While performance is obviously an intensely important part of the Camaro experience, it's clearly built for a different purpose than the vette. Chevy understands this and that's how they can get away with selling both vehicles because they know they won't cannibalize each others sales (much). Hell, you bought one of each

Isn't the weight difference more like 500 lbs?

Or did you get a vert?

Hey guys I only posted this because I have seen many guys ask what are the differences.

A lot Lof people I know do not have a chance to really check out both. As I said they both are Great cars but are good at different things.

Hey I would agree that a Corvette will not do everything ... that's why I have a Camaro and a Chevy Truck also. Also Corvette is not twice the money.

My Camatro about 40k... My Corvette 56K

I'm a Chevy Guy not a Ford guy. Same family

Why do people who drive Vettes always drive like 10 mph under the speed limit?

Is it just to be a pompous ass or what?

Cody602 I stand corrected ...you are right a GS does weigh 3300 .... I must have been thinking of the weigh of my previous Corvette ....a Z06 . Thanks ...I hate to state bad info.

Also I think most took my post all wrong .... I don't go out looking to blow away SS Camaro's .....
I am not a drag racer and never have been.

I have had some fun with Mustang guys who think there Boss Mustang or Gt 500 can handle with my Corvettes. Wrong ..... I live in the Northern Cal Wine Country with lots of great twisty roads.

I guess it's a Crime to have Two Neat Cars !!!

Also THANKS for you guys who understood where I was coming from. Just info !!
