WHAT THE HELL IS IN OUR PAINT!?!?!?!

Okay last night after doing a once over on the car in the garage (car has about 250 miles on it) i'm looking over the paint under my garage lighting and I notice something on the passengers side rear quarter panel on the part where it flattens out under the 3/4 small window. It looked almost like a scratch at first but looking at it and running my finger over it it is actually UNDERNEATH the clearcoat. Car is a CGM 2SS and scanning the entire car I thought thoroughly at first never noticed it. Funny thing is is that at certain angles it disappears. It looks like it's a darker than the CGM liquid under the clear that dried and got clearcoat sprayed over it?!?!?! My wife took some pictures with her phone showing a few angles of it and another picture where you can see how it disappears into the paint and certain angles. But it is CLEARLY there when you look straight down at it through the clearcoat... we plan on taking the car to the dealership and having their bodyshop manager take a look at it. I told the wife being under the clearcoat is the best thing that could have happened since otherwise they could try to blame us for it.... under the clear shows it obviously happened during production..

I just did a search and noticed that others have reported "dirt" in the paint that is under the clearcoat.. guess i'm not the only one...

oh they WILL fix this cause it's bullSHIAT that you sell a 36,000 dollar car but you can't run a ventilated paint booth that doesn't have dirt inside before you clear it....

The paint on my car sucks as well .. I have fish eyes and at least 3 paint / clearcoat runs. With all the talk of Quality and QA on these cars you would have thought stuff like this wouldn't make it through.

I can't recall seeing any runs but honestly now I think i'm going to finetooth comb the car inch by inch to check... others that have seen our paint have said how beautiful it is.... i looked at it and the surface is really nice but i need to see how many issues I might be able to find if i go inch by inch...

and you're right i'm shocked i didn't notice it earlier cause last night i spotted it in like a heartbeat walking by it... amazing i didn't see it sooner... They are going to fix it, especially since it's UNDER the clearcoat putting ZERO liability on me like a rockchip or a scratch would be.... funny thing is that the only blemish on the car was where was looks like a rock hit the wheelwell about 8 inches lower than where this paint imperfection is.... I'm gonna get the dealer to fix it all I might as well have them repaint that part as well... might get a two fer one on this deal...

Maybe go take the factory tour in October and give the paint department a piece of your mind.

I agree that for the money shelled out for the Camaro it shouldn't have issues like that.

Sorry to hear that and see it, it could be dirt or a bad piece of sheet metal with a flaw in it they didn't see, GM will most likely correct the problem, even if you have to get the rep. for your area involved. Hope it works out for u.

got fish eyes too, but so far no scratches under the clear.
I have heard some people saying that bugs on the front bumper, being cleaned offf a day or two later takin the paint off the bumper. Didnt have this issue with my car though.
Just fisheyes which really piss me off, and some bubbles in the clear or something around my roof ditch moulding

I have to look at the whole car very closely when I get it back from the dealer. With all the QC issues at the factory, I can't get myself to participate in threads on congratulating and thanking the Oshawa plant for building the new camaro.

Its a mass produced car, its not a Porsche or Jaguar

These things will be and should be fixed though

You don't think a Porsche or Jaguar are not mass-produced? Come to Southern California and after driving a few blocks, you might re-think that statement.
