LS rumors?
So, I have a stock 2012 Camaro LS. Everything is still stock!
I've had it about 4 months. I went to the chevy dealer to ask about my fog lights and rims if I could order both. They informed me that if I get fog lights put in, my 'check engine' light will always stay on after. Also, I asked if I could order my 18 inch rims for my car and they informed me that I would have the 'tire' light on in my dash always on due to the tire pressure system might be off after. For the people that have done this to their LS, have any of yall had this happen to you? Thanks for your input! |

Your dealership is retarted. If the LS already has the fog light plugs in the harness then all you should need is the headlight switch with the fog light button in the center and perhaps worst case a quick modification to your BCM via computer.
If you swap wheels, as long as the TPMS sensors are put back into the new wheels and put back on the car without being damaged it should be a non issue.

That is surely . Sounds like they were feeling lazy that day and didn't want the job or they are incredibly stupid and you need to stay away from them anyway.
I'm sure people that have done this will chime in.

GM will not support the BCM modification to update the fog light circuit. They will do it for 10 and 11 models. I had mine done, but I knew and engineer and mine was done as a test vehicle. they may do it in the future but it will cost you

Okay thanks yall! I truly appreciate it. I did talk to a rim shop and they said they've done tons of Camaro LS rims and have never had a problem. I'm gonna give it a try! Thanks a bunch!

Go teach them something, then head to another dealership. They don't deserve your business if they're not that knowledgeable or not willing to help.

1) The tire pressure sensors are what makes the car "see" the pressure in the tires, not the rims. As someone said, you can remove your factory sensors and install them on any rims that you like. You can also buy new ones and simply reprogram them. This is a 10 minute job that anyone can do.
2) There are many aftermarket harnesses that can be bought. The quality will vary so read the lighting section here on the forum. You can certainly do this yourself if you have any degree of mechanical talent. It's not hard and takes a few hours to do. |
