Looks great... I say keep it, and find another way to get the ZL1.

I'd keep the 69 too... even if your grill emblem is upside down.

Zl1 is the better all around driver by light years IMO. I wish I still had my 69 at times though.
the all around drive of this car though is just good. My 69 camaro was not an all around driver. it was fast is a strait line and a handful in the corners.

Do yourself a favor. When the weather gets better; go take a ZL1 for a test (hopefully on a back mountain road) drive. Turn off the radio, roll down the windows, set to Sport mode and go. Then report back. It's a visceral feeling that goes beyond a perma grin; it's downright exhilarating and even therapeutic. You owe it to yourself. |

I sold my '69 Camaro more than a year before I bought my ZL1. I've owned a first gen Camaro (two '69s and one '68) since I was 15 years old (35 years). I decided that 8 needed room and some funds to help purchase the new car. Everyone told me not to do it, that I would regret selling my '69. I have to be honest, that five minutes in the new ZL1 makes you forget the old first gen. The ZL1 has great styling cues from the first gen, incredible power, and fantastic handling. It's a whole package.
Ultimately, it's a personal decision and one that you alone will live with. For me, no regrets at all.

I sold my 68 RS/SS several years ago and regretted every day thereafter.....until I bought my ZL1!
The 68 was an awesome piece of history, but I can drive the ZL1 every day, plus the heater works, the radio works, the wipers work. The seats are comfortable (and stay in place), no issues with hideaway headlights, and the cabin is quite. Better mileage, better handling, new technology. Did I mention that I get to drive the ZL1 every day? |

I have always wanted a 69 Camaro. The opportunity and funds never seemed to line up. I was able to get a 12 ZL1 with the intention of getting a 69 Camaro later. After I return from Germany I will be looking for a 69 Camaro. I would keep the 69 and wait for a ZL1 to come.
I love driving my ZL1 on the Autobahn and taking her on the back mountain roads here in Germany when the roads are dry. Can’t wait for winter be over with. Beautiful car don’t let her go!

Keep the 69. They are alot harder to find than a production car they will be making for a few years. There will be ZL1s available for many many years to come. Unless you actually need everything it offers and the classic sits and doesn't get used. I didn't read the thread.

Keep the 69, wait till you can score a ZL-1 used I am sure there will be plenty of low mileage ones around from the people who had to have one right away then ended up hardly using it and then sell it for way less then what they paid....................... just my .02, I have a 68 ss/rs with a 396 in it and dont think I could part with her. I have owned her since I was 15 and I am 44 now dont drive her too much but knowing I own one and what it would cost to replace............I have to throw in mine has the original floors rear quarters doors fenders, only rear body panel was replaced because the car took a light shot to the rear plate area.

Coming from a next generation guy (23 yrs old)... My father owned a ton of nice first gen camaros and firebirds, his favorite was his '69 T/A four speed that he had no idea was as rare as it was at the time. Now I've always planned to have a dailydriver car and then a first gen camaro. I reached a point financially where i could do that, tested a few possible choices out with him and everytime we left after looking at an old camaro he wouldnt stop going on about how much he appreciates getting back in a modern car for the drive home (late model jetta). Point of the story is comparing a 1st and 5th gen camaro on the aspect of driving and capabilities is not very difficult because the 5th gen wins in every category. The 1st gen is just a reminder of the good times way back when. I ended up buying a ZL1 that I plan to let the old man drive once and a while and neither of us could be happier with my choice.
