I recently ordered from a dealer that said he still had some allocations left. I called him 3 days later and asked him if I had an order number or what event code I was at. He told me there was no order number, and sounded confused when I asked about the event codes.

Is my dealer an idiot? Shouldn't I have an order number as soon as he puts in the order (since he has allocations)...?

Well, the normal answer would be that your dealer IS an idiot. But the salesperson may not be the person who enters the order. He may have to rely on a GM or someone to enter it. However, he or she should know what an order number is and how to get one for you. Go back and tell that that you would like to speak to whomever enter orders into Workbench.

You need to get an order workbench number from him or your order does not exist.

also keep in mind that most (if not all) orders are only entered weekly........tuesdays from everywhere i've heard.

I ordered on a Tuesday (4/21) and had my order number before I had the pen on the check I was writing for the deposit. I think they can enter an order whenever they want.

Yes, they can put in a preliminary Order at any time and at that point you have status 1100 and an Order # to track it by. It also is price protected from that point forward.
