Apparently now, according the latest photographic evidence.
Actually now that you mention it reminds me of those UFO and Bigfoot pics I took... That means yes we will have an LS7 based Z28!

On a more serious note, where would you want the Z28 & 427 emblems placed?

Z/28 = drivers side grill minus the bowtie, rear tail pan, maybe fenders.

427 = either the fenders or the hood. Which ever looks the best.

Would we have to wait on a Gen VI Camaro?

If the Z28 does, so will the SS at about the same time ...

On a side note, the next gen Mustang is coming for '14 and everything about it sounds REALLY good. Probably a good time for some Camaro updates.

Again, just sayin'.
Rumours almost always sound better than reality too ... just sayin'

It was announced that the ZL1 will get an automatic transmission. It was also stated that the ZL1 with be the ultimate drag strip, and track car. That just doesn't look good for us Z/28 dreamers.

As much as I like what I'm hearing in regards the ZL1, I fear it will be quite pricey thereby leaving much room for the Z28. I hope.

I can really hear and understand what all of you are saying with the corvette being the supreme GM car. That it should get the Gen V motor first. But in the same regards, it makes more sense for the Z28 to get it first, it is a higher volume car (the camaro in general) the LS7 is expensive as hell and would make the camaro version that much more unattainable for the average Joe. GM is in the business to make money and they would sell a hell of a lot more "Z28's" then they would the new corvette with it in it. That recoups the R&D costs quicker. Who says that the Corvette can't get a better version of a DI GenV motor? Maybe more along the lines of a 6.2L DI? LS3 motor we have in our cars is the low grade corvette motor and it is rated for less HP than in the corvette. It can stay the top dog, but Gm can make more money off of the 5.5L in the camaro...just sayin.

Ya know, after 8 years without a Camaro in production, I'm just glad we can discuss these things. I remember signing up for some website in 2003 or 2004 that let people "sign a petition" to bring back the Camaro. Then I found this website in 2006. I've owned six Camaros (four z/28s) over the last 20 years and still have two in my garage. At some point I do hope to get a 5th gen or maybe even a 6th gen!

Ok back on topic. At some point I'm sure we will see a z/28 again. This month's Car Craft had an old quote attributed to Al Oppenheiser about the Camaro's rich naming history that the team can choose from as they roll out new models. I think one thing we can all agree on is that the z/28 name is by far the name/model that is most associated with the Camaro brand.

Have faith, it will be back. Not sure if it will be a 5th or 6th gen, but I'm holding out hope that we will see it back as both a 5th and 6th gen!!!!

The "Point" of this thread is how can we prove a 5Gen Z28 is possible and warranted.

Possibility is easy: Yes!! Warranted investment is almost impossible for anyone other than those behind the locked doors...

I guess that "points" vary from person to person. A DI smallblock V8 is possible in a gen5 camaro. Why wouldn't it be? They have a V6 version now and they have been testing the DI platform for 5 years. Do you really think GM is happy standing pat with just a V6 DI engine. 2013/14 are still two model years away!! How long do you think that they test cars/engines for? I am sure that there is a mule camaro and corvettealready somewhere hidden somewhere with one in it. The cost of the LS7 does not warrant the production of a Z28, pushing for it I think actually inhibits it.
