JDP V6 VMAX Testing Results
JDP Motorsports was recently sent a V6 VMAX throttle body for testing on our DynoJet 224xLC as well as our driving impressions. We were told not to expect large power gains but the "seat of the pants" feel was supposed to be great. Well......... I was very impressed by the low to mid range power gained from 2000 RPM all the way up to 6000 RPM. We saw up to 12 RWTQ and 8 RWHP at 3000 RPM which is awesome! Most of the time you're driving around town you're not at redline and it is important to understand power below the curve is huge. How often are you at 7000 RPM?
The test car is a 2010 LS manual with an Airaid CAI, SS cat-back with Magnaflow tru-x and 4" Magnaflow Magnapack mufflers. Other than that the car is stock. Here are the results: BEFORE: 266.34 RWHP and 234.21 RWTQ AFTER: 268.83 RWHP and 238.41 RWTQ I think the power from 2000 - 6500 RPM was really impressive. The next test was to get a feel for it on the street and I was optimistic given the gains we achieved on the Dyno. I did some common side street driving and the car immediately had a lot more response. I then took it onto the freeway and it pulled noticeably harder coming up to speed as well as while in higher gears (2K-6K) RPM. Based on our initial testing I think this is a GREAT modification for the money and it really opens up power where it counts in the low to upper mid range. We have more cores in process and I'm looking forward to getting them! Thank you to Pete at VMAX for allow us to test this great piece and like the SS VMAX this is a winner! I was ready to get one, and then was optimistic, but this changed my mind! Very nice!
Was the 12 RWTQ and 8 RWHP just seen with the VMAX throttle body added, or was that with the other mods included. Just trying to understand since the car was not completely stock. |

Vmax has gotten 4-5 peak on their tests and independant. But yes, it is the bottom end where it is needed. It seems all bolt on's react the same way on this engine, more low to mid and less at peak.
