Headroom

Anyone know if the interior headroom with the sunroof option is diminished? I have a 4rth gen and will actually gain .5 inch in the 5th gen coupe with no sunroof. Yet I haven't heard any info on this. I know some people will think so what a half an inch one way or the other big deal. At just over 6 feet 6 inches I have to tilt the seat back slightly on my 4th gen with t-tops to have roughly an inch of spare space. I tried asking at the outoshow if there's anyway I could try sitting in the Red RS with sunroof and that was a no go. I even made sure I went to see it with less than an hour before closing just in case they took pity on me and let me try. BTW anyone have interior photos looking up or down thru the sunroof with it open or close I would love to see them. I've seen all the side ones and the one from the top at a distance but I'm looking for closeups. Thanks for the help.

Apparently, there's adequate of headroom. I can't tell you whether it is reduced due to the sunroof, but I imagine it is about the same because it is a spoiler-type sunroof. In those types, the sunroof opens outside of the car, so I can only imagine that there wouldn't be any less space inside the car.

Many have said do not worry about front interior room.

But make no mistake, any sunroof takes up some space, and adds a good deal of weight.

Actually we couldn't get the sunroof to go down in in the car because fbodfather said it took up space. so they made the sunroof go up and out, so it could provide the maximum amount of headroom. Doesn't look ideal to me cause i would rather it go down and in, looks a lot nicer, and gives the car a clean look than having a sunroof sticking up and out of the car. But it does give us more headroom with the final production.

What's the added weight/price for the sunroof?

900 msrp around 700 invoice if I remember correctly. I can't imagine weight increase being more than 30lbs but that’s a total guess. Rag top convertibles are usually around 100 and that includes structural rigidity increasing of the chassis.

firesq,

If you look at the specs for the 5th you will see that the headroom measurement is basically the same as 3rd and 4th gens.
I owned 4 3th gens but never bought a 4th because the windshield was raked back to 68 degrees(vs. the 3rd's 64 degrees) and the windshield header felt like it was in my forehead and also blocked my upward vision of overhead stoplights. in addition the rearview mirror blocked my forward vision.

i',m 6'8" and drive a GTO which has about the same headroom specs. very comfortable in the GTO, moreso than andy fbody I've owned.

From what I've heard about the 5th, I think you'll fit fine.

This is a good post on sunroof headroom, I have had the same question, I am 6' 4". Does the sun roof have a sun shad that you can close?

I would like to see some pictures of the sun roof, does anyone have any?

^Probably, but the window appears to have a pretty good tint on it, and as for pics. There are a couple threads on her with pics, but i don't think there is any of the inside part of the sunroof. Maybe you can make a request for the LA autoshow.

I'm feeling more comfortable in getting a sunroof now, but it would be nice to see some pictures. I just didn’t want to hear there would be allot less head room. My t-tops on my 4rth gen probably gives me around 1/4 more head room (almost negligible) but the borders of the glass/opening are not directly overhead as it may be for the sunroof. Well, anyhow I guess we'll have to patiently wait. I also wanted to say I like the reverse Mohawk, but I was impressed by the clean look of the roof on the sun roofed red RS in person. The Mohawk almost seams to try to force the link between vett and the Camaro but I thing the Camaro can hold its own on appearance without it. Before anyone passes judgment they should look at it in person. Just like this car overall pictures don't do it justice because of all the angles. The challenger on the other hand looks pretty much the same in person and in pictures. I wish I would have had a better opportunity to see the sunroof from within at the auto show. I just could not really get a good look at the interior with the position it was in to close to the ground and about 5 feet away.

I can live with 30lbs. But anything over 50 would probably leave me sunroofless
