Does this look right?!

Just recently had my muffler deleted, and I do not like the sound. It sounds very ricey to me. Along with this, I feel the cars throttle to be a bit unresponsive and I am noticing a drastic drop in mpg's. Does this look like its done correctly? It was dark out, so hopefully the pics don't appear too bad! The tips are stainless, about 18" long and were added at time of muffler delete. Could those be the problem makers? Are they too long? Was the pipe cut back enough? What should I do, what would you do if you were me now? It was a muffler delete with new tips installed, it was $250 and came out a lot luder which was good, but sounding worse, which is bad. It's not the sound that I heard other v6 camaros having from simple muffler deletes so either something is wrong here or I need to first make some changes. Please give me some input. Thanks everyone!

hmm, those look kinda funny..

almost like some type of glass pack thing..

what is inside the pipe? are they straight thru or do they have fiberglass or any type of vents to buffet the sound?

Well those are much larger tips then are usually used. The look like the style typically used on trucks. They might have a slight "megaphone" effect since they open up much larger and much sooner than the usual tips. Overall sound shouldn't be to far off from others. Can you take a video of it at all?

You have a v6. Any muffler delete will sound bad. You need mufflers. But a muffler delete is a huge no no.

and be aware that exhausts always sound different from a recording and in real life, also keep in mind that manufacturers recordings might sound better than real life. it's a 24 valve v6, it's never going to sound like a v8.

here's my words of wisdom, forget about the trying to make the exhaust sound good, spend your money on upgrading the Stereo, it's better to listen to anyway and it's something you wont be dissapointed with.

also make sure that you keep your stock mufflers, do let that shop keep them, they are worth a lot of money, go back and get them if you need to, you may want to have them put back on or you may want to put some different ones on.

You've still got you're H-pipe, so it's not all bad. You need to get those tips cut off and normal tips put in their place. I agree with the megaphone effect. Those tips are screwing you.

First go and find a mirror and wipe the word "sucker" off of your forehead since that shop saw you coming. Any good exhaust shop that builds performance exhausts would have never done that. Your mileage went to crap because you lost a lot of backpressure and therefore low end torque. You end up then using more gas to get your ride moving and the sound is even louder.
Best solution is to find a good performance exhaust shop and get some performance mufflers on there....quick.

Thanks everyone! Keep it coming!

Hey guys, I appreciate the input from everyone! How bad is it on the car to be driving this way in the meantime? Like, am I harming the engine or anything if I needed to go somewhere and couldnt get back to the shop so fast? Thanks!

You're fine. All you'll have to endure is the sound.

You are not really hurting anything except your gas budget for now. Be careful because here in SoCal those would get the attention of Officer Friendly and could get you to donate to the local Police charity fund.
