Equipment and Tech

  1. Helmets are Required, if you don't have one try to borrow one. Snell 2005 2010 SA rated helmets (closed and open face) are acceptable. Bring your own helmet or make arrangements to share one. There will be NO SCCA loaners. If you have spare helmets and are willing to share please bring it. If you have access to a batch of SCCA rental helmets please let us know!
  2. Your Camaro must be empty. If it isn't bolted down it shouldn't be in the car.
  3. No drivers side floor mats are allowed.
  4. No drips or leaks are acceptable.
  5. Your battery and every thing under the hood and in the trunk must be bolted down securely.
  6. Your tires will have to pass the Lincoln test, unless they are slicks.

Autocross Staffing

We have NO SCCA support for the event. To make the event run smoothly we need Camaro5 member help.

  • Drivers MUST work the corners. If you do not support the event as a corner worker, you will NOT drive in the event.
  • Pedders and a few of our Dealers will staff the Autocross, but we cannot do it alone.

How much time will we be required to work the corners if we are a driver. I am cool with it, but need to know so I can plan time around events and family?

Should I bring my windshield washer fluid for the other cars while I am working the corners? Will they tip?

During your driving session, there will be some down time so we'll rotate drivers around during their session. Drive, corner, drive, tech, drive, timing, something like that is what I'm seeing.

Cool?

3, 4 August........ Autocross will have AM session and PM session both days. I don't know about the drag lanes, but should be similar.

So another words if you are planning to do both Auto-x and drag racing youll need a Snell Rated SA2005/2010 correct? Because the rating is good for both events.
So something like this should be fine for both events corrsect? Disregard the helmet size

I don't have a sticker inside my helmet but I do have a Snell M2005 certified sticker on the outside of my helmet. It's a full faced motorcycle helmet. I'm assuming it will be fine because I've used it before, but wasn't sure if they'd give me grief since nothing is affixed inside the helmet.

Okay, now I am totally confused. :( I thought I had it, now,................well, not so much. I am resigned to buying a helmet. But some of the OP is over my head. So let's start with this:

PROTECTIVE CLOTHING
Full-length pants; short- or long-sleeved shirt; closed shoes; and
socks. No shorts. No tank tops. No open-toe or open-heel shoes or
sandals. Synthetic clothing not recommended. Jacket and pants
meeting SFI Spec 3.2A/1 mandatory in AA/S through M/S, AA/SA
through M/SA, and in any vehicle running 11.49 or quicker. SFI
Spec 3.3/1 gloves mandatory in any vehicle running 9.99 or quicker.
See General Regulations 10:10.

translation please. Do I just need to borrow my nephew's racing suit to be safe. Do we have to dress like that in the corner work? If so I will roast. At least with the suit I could just take it off & have shorts underneath if it is permitted.

Sounds like if your car runs 11.49 or quicker you only have to worry about this.

I bet we can wear regular clothes to do corners. But when it comes race time, Make sure you wear the correct attire. i.e.
Full-length pants; short- or long-sleeved shirt; closed shoes; and
socks. No shorts. No tank tops. No open-toe or open-heel shoes or
sandals.
