preoblems with K&N CAI after installation

Anyone have issues with car starting after installing K&N intake for v6? Car starts up for 2 seconds and shuts right off. Emissions sensor maybe or some anti-theft crp?

Couple things....

Is the MAF plugged back in?

Not sure how the K&N is built... but is the MAF "housing" backwards?

Ok... looks like you really can't have the MAF in backwards...

Every thing tight? PCV tube connected?

99% sure I put on correctly. Have done before on my 06 tahoe.
Reading manual...emissions sensor was noted as well as anti theft. but all other posts of folks putting CAIs on I never saw any problems so chances are its something I did. Any kind of reprogramming for the onboard computer necessary?
Gave up for the night and will get back at it in the morning with fresh start

hmmm... double check everything in the morning... if still no luck then perhaps put the stock intake back on and drive down to the local Autozone type place and have them pull the trouble code...

You should NOT need to reprogram the computer..

Could possibly the #5/20 have anything to do with it? Something electrical from the setup...

check next to the PCV tube on the head. There is a plug there for the cam position sensor. You might have pulled it off during the install....

Did you get the pre-oiled or dry K&N.if you bought the pre=oiled one, they tend to over oil the filters and then too much oil can contaminate the sensor. It happened to me with my Hemi 1500. The fix is wash out the filter with Dawn and hot water, dry it, clean the sensor thoroughly with rubbing alcohol. Reinstall the clean unit. Reset your codes and enjoy.

couple things... I've use oiled filters, including the K&N OEM type panel filter for our cars... and while it looked a bit over oiled it did not cause any problems. I think people are way to quick to blame an oil filter... Also if you are going to clean your MAF i would suggest a MAF cleaner spray like:

And by the sounds of it, the car never really started and ran to even really contaminate things..

Beauwulf's suggestion is a good one... We've had a car run rough on here after a CAI install, but I don't we've had one just shut right off...

As one stated, maybe a fuse pull/battery unplug is in order(to re-learn?)

Had my K&N installed tonight. Had same problem, shutting off right away. Turns out we had the MAF in backwards. All fine now. I think thats what the piece was called. The one going into the tube.
