It's sad the nostalgia increases the price heavily. With all the comfort and amenities dropped from the car,the price of just the car itself without the Z-28 specific parts would bring it to be around $20-26k tops? Leaning more towards $20k. Add in the specific parts and it shouldn't be more than 45k. They're into producing dream cars rather than cars made for the general public. The regular everyday ppl wanted the ls7 camaro, the regular everyday ppl wanted the z-28 and GM delivers something the avg guy can just wish and dream about. Rather pathetic dont you think?

For so many years of Camaro's thru the 70's,80's and 90's the Z-28 was a street driving option. No more, it's back to it's original roots. RACE CAR. Not intended for everyday street use. And race cars are expensive. The Z-28 will probably be the most expensive street legal Camaro. For us regular people, we have the SS and I hope the ZL1 and 1LE will still be options. There is something for everyone. I think this whole Chevy line up is just awesome.

I can agree with this as long as the 1LE remains. The ZL1 is confirmed for at 2014 if I am understanding correctly.

The Camaro never was intended to be out of the price range for the average hard working American...it has ALWAYS been a car you could buy on Saturday and race on Sunday if you wanted to...We enjoy getting our hands dirty and making them "ours" Never intended to be thought of as "Wear your wall street business suit on Friday and go out to your garage in your slippers and stare at it on Saturday and Sunday"

I sort of remember a lot of similar griping over the cost, and the dealer-mark up, limited numbers to be made, out of reach for buyers, etc., for the ZL-1...I'd say the first reactions to the Z/28 are quite similar...so maybe just wait and see...

most expensive Camaro? = hahaha = COPO
..should've clarified comment as 'street-legal'
..might as well buy it's weight in gold and store it Fort Knox, at least gold appreciates better, and mass approved(I think I'll put some gold bricks in my 2010 and let it sit awhile).
..here's an afterthought, get rid of the rear seats, and put a lightweight roll cage in it, for that price..

Man, are you brainwashed. I am sure that more than 90% of us on here can do math pretty well and read..Mark Reuss said it will be the most expensive camaro to date. EVEN if you start with a 1SS, and add 14 for the engine, 6 for tranny, 6k for the brakes, there is no way in hell does that add up to less than 50K!! That is not even the tip of the iceberg!!

It's just a money racket. In 1969, the difference between a V8 and a Z-28 was around $1000. Here we have a base V8 of around $32000 and a Z-28 that will probably be at LEAST double. It doesn't add up. Race car or not, it's a package. $50k should be tops. The ZL-1 back then was the most expensive car and only 69 were made and I understand not just anyone could get these cars. But they're just blowing the Z out of proportion to what you're getting for your money. GM will probably make $25000+ on each one sold.

Lots of crying in here, Ford is selling every GT500 they can make and they price out over 60k with a couple options.

Have you guys not looked at a new truck or Tahoe lately? I looked at a LTZ Tahoe last night with a sticker of 62K and a crew cab 1500 that was close to 50k

At 59,990 GM will sell everyone they want to make, even at 64,995 they will.

I think thats the idea they have for the Z/28. Track car that can be driven on the street, but I bet you they make a hell of alot more than 300 of them lol.

Ummm the GT500 has all the bells as whistles in it if you want it for the price. Here you have a stripped out camaro and they're probably wanting $65000+ for it. You're telling me that's a bargain? Lol
