Yeah, sounds like your da's were horrible, as was the track prep. At royal purple in baytown I couldn't spin my tires, even dumping the clutch at 3k rpms. They just grabbed and went, would bog down a bit, but not hop even. I think I was getting 8.5-8.7 1/8 mile times. Don't really remember that well, I was more interested in my 1/4. Best was 13.1 @ 111 worst was a 13.3 @ 108

also remember altitude affects ET, for you lowlanders a 9.0 seems slow .. but at 5000 feet its quit good. also weather affects the corrected altitude ( use the track I race at for example its mean altitude is 3740 feet .. but on a nice hot August day the corrected altitude is usually around 7000 feet ) Now the 5th gens that do come to run there are normally in the low 9's. have seen a few aftermarket supercharged ones run into the mid 8's so don't be to harsh on the slow time slips.. they have to be taken into context as to weather an altitude
P.S. my stock 2012 V6 runs 9.70's also remember to turn off that traction control with the automatic trans it has a massive effect on your stall speed ( with the TC on it won't stall over 1400 ) and the throttle response is .. bad .. put it this way .200 lights with the TC on .. .00 lights with it off. |
