I know that your upset but IMO it give the "Emblem" more character, i mean it looks more like the real "Emblem". IJS

Yep, WD-40 works great for stuff like this and will not cause any damage to your paint.

denatured alcohol, safe for paint and leaves no residue. works great! just use a micro fiber towel, as to not scratch the paint.

Yeah maybe paint thinner will help you clean the rest of the chrome, or lack there of. Wet sand them down, spray paint them and clear them and buy a roll of 3M tape and stick em back on. You can't be pissed when $6 decals fall apart. They're $6 decals afterall...

Replace with OE emblems...they won't have that issue.
