It shouldn't be any different than a non Cammed car. Are your fan setting set correctly?

I agree with Little88, a cam should not make a significant difference in operating temperature. With a proper tune and fan settings there should be no issue. Is your Camaro a LS3 or L99?

Because of the fan settings in the tune and 180 deg. thermostat my cammed LS3 runs in general slightly lower cooling temps than when stock. It's usually between 178 and 195. The only time I saw higher than that was last summer I got stuck in traffic at idle for about 15 minutes when it was 110 degrees air temp. I saw the cooling temps climb to 215 but once moving went right back down to 185.

Your car will not see less than 176.

I have a 160 thermo. Sitting in traffic it gets up to 190. Usually runs around 180. The coldest it gets is 176. May throw 5 degrees on top of those numbers for 90 plus days.

The biggest issue is gm's fan tables start at 192 so there is no way to run the fan earlier than that unless you have them all the time or have the a/c on. So having said that 177-183 at speed and 177-195 ish stopped

I do not reccomend running the fans all the time. The sweet spot for these engines is 180-190 anyhow. Still recommend 160 thermostat

EFILive has a fan patch to allow them to operate at lower temps for 160* thermostat setups.

215 is a bit high. Where the fans on? Is the coolant full? The upper line isn't hard to bleed but you do have to work the air out of it.
Rhino is right. Efilive does have a patch. I mostly use HPtuners so I didn't even think of that. |
