Is it really necessary to disconnect battery to install cold air intake? The instructions say to , whats the harm?

I did not disconnect mine. I have a Roto-fab and I do not remember seeing that in the instructions. Non the less, nothing happened and my car is still alive

It's not 100% necessary, but it does help the computer adjust to the changes quicker. You'll also want to be cautious not to arc something on the positive terminal so close to where you're working.

Best regards,

Which intake do you have? I recently got CAI. Installed without disconnecting and got a check engine light.

Unplugged battery terminal for a bit, reconnected, and engine light gone.

Disconnecting is more for the engine to resetitself to relearn the new airflow beside any safety concerns.

All you need is to disconnect the terminal where you're installing anyways. No need to go into truck to disconnect battery like I've seen some do.

Just don't close the trunk after you disconnect it, otherwise you'll be crawling through the back seat like I did when installing mine. Haha
