Replacing HUD Windshield

I was passing a semi yesterday and got nailed by two or three rocks, one of which cracked the windshield and the other two scraped and chipped off paint on my front passenger fender.

Anyone ever replaced a HUD windshield that can tell me how much they paid?

Insurance ? Most people don't pay anything (full glass coverage) or no more than
their comp deductible.

Your HUD is shown onto your windshield, right? I don't think there is anything special about your windshield.

Actually there is, there is a coating to help the HUD display properly.

OP, I had mine replaced with no issue, make sure you ask for an OEM replacement and since you have remote start make sure they pick the correct direction your remote box is posistioned, verticle or horizontal. As for cost, I have no idea. Here is FL it's free once a year.

Local price is ~$700 installed. Looked into it after I installed HUD in my 2010.

Did you specify you had the HUD the reason I asked is Safelite when I called said they did not carry glass for the HUD equipped vehicles.

My window cracked this past Sunday. I have Geico , the rep said if under 6 inches insurance would cover entire bill. My window is cracked all the way across, glass had to be ordered waiting for price.

They pay for a new windshield, but charge you your deductible.

She marries you.

Serious note, they cannot repair a crack over 6 inches because it is considered distracting and dangerous with reflection, and will most likely continue to run after it has been fixed with weather changes.

They pay 100% under 6" because the windshield is repaired, not replaced. Over 6" it has to be replaced, so they charge the comp deductible.

that depends on where the crack is too. if it doesn't effect your view, or compromise the integrity of the windshield then it can sometimes be fixed.
