Should I buy a Camaro
Hi, I am 19 years old looking for a new car as i am bored with my 2005 mazda6. I was snooping around and found a guy selling his 2012 camaro for 19500 (Canadian). I messaged him and told him id give him blue book value on the car which was 15,150. He said he would put in 2 new tires and rims for 350 bucks. Seems fair. As this is my first car, i am 19 with a steady job and make enough money. I don't have to pay my insurance, rent or for school, so my disposable income is everything i make. I have disposible income of 800-1300$ per month and the payments would be 380-410 per month for 4 years. This would be an extremely big purchase for me as my only other big purchase was my 2005 mazda6 which cost me 4000 and my computer which was about 1500. Should i follow through with buying this car? i mean i live in Canada so its harsh winters so i could only drive it when the snow is plowed well. I always loved the looks of Camaros and its cheaper than a new corolla or civic. All input helps as this is a very big decision for me.

op if you only make that little a month if you plan to take a loan out it may be tough to get approved since your payment will 30-50% of your take home.

I would just keep saving for now. Insurance, gas, tires, etc, are all a bit more expensive than your Mazda6, along with you added payment, your disposable income would be completely gone. A set of winter tires (an absolute must) will run you over $1000 alone. Another option could be to take a look at 4th gen Camaros, buy it in cash, and then you have mod/beer money left over each month. That is what I did in college, started off with a '94 trans am that ran and looked great for $2100, and after than an '01 Camaro SS for $5400. The cash you would get from selling your Mazda could almost pay for a decent LS1 car outright.

Think about how long the loan would be for. When you get older and have to support yourself without the parents, you may be in a jam for finances. If you're only bored with the Mazda, maybe spend a few dollars fixing her up a bit - make it your own. If it is a reliable transportation, and if I were recommending to my own kids, I'd say stick with the one you have for now... and give me something toward the bills so you start learning to earn your keep. Just what I'd say, doesn't mean it's for you, LOL. Do whatever works best for ya.

I traded my 2012 Camaro SS convertible, which was great, for my 2016 Camaro SS convertible (terrific car). Is the 2012 a SS? If so, I would get it.

I'd get it but you should also do a pros/cons, cost analysis chart or something like that to weigh your options.

If it involves making payments, where your priorities will involve putting work ahead of staying in school, then I wouldn't advise it personally. A lot of youngsters do not focus enough attention on school and life's direction, and put too much attention on a perishable object. When you finish school and get a good job, you should have more than enough time and money to focus on a great car.
Analyze your financial situation, and if you can buy the car without putting a major financial strain on yourself, then shop around for a bargain on the Camaro.
