well there would be a lot easier place to tap into.....that is if you want the lights on all the time, and that would be the AUX power (cig lighters). as they are only powered up when the car is on....so as soon as you shut off the car and start to open the door it will go off. Just like like your radio does.

as far as the ABL wires.....it all depends on when your car was made. the early to mid 2010s had a connection on both sides that nothing is connected to, we believe it was originally for the dash abl that GM decided to delete....later models the wiring harrness were changed so its not there. BUT if its there, the connection that is easiest to get at is on the left side, just pop off the fuse panel. in this thread, in the first two posts there are good pictures of the connections you were asking about asnd how to access them.

You can get this in the console at the front, passenger side. X211 (8 position connector), YEL and BLK wires.

There is a yellow wire that runs underneath the gauges/where the gauges should be if you don't have them. Tap into that, it's an ABL wire

Sweet, I will have to look for the yellow and black wires. I only want the lights to come on when the ABL comes on. If anyone has any recommendations that will make this mode easier please feel free to pass that good info! Thanks again!!

Actually the ABL wire is Purple and Black. The Yellow and Black is the instrument panel lighting.

The difference being that ABL can be shut off when the lighting is dimmed to its lowest level. The Instrument panel can't.

The Traction control switch is a good spot for the yellow/black IP lighting. If you want the feature lighting, you'll want to go under the passenger kick panel, and tap the purple wire there.

Since the 4 gauges clusters light up at night like the ABL, I was wondering if anyone knows if I can tap into them? If so, what wires would I tap into?

yes you can. You want to tap into the yellow wire that goes to the gauges.

Is there a ABL wire in the console area ? I'm also adding cup holder leds but also rear footwell lights. I know I can tap into ABL under the dash like i did for the front footwells but want something closer.
