Mondo track in PHX
Here is a vid I made from this weekends track day. Combined Firebird Int Raceway Main track and the Bondurant track.
I am still a newbie at this, so be kind....just thought some may enjoy it |

It's was good to see so many new faces/drivers at this weekends event.....and refreshing to see 3 new ZL1's running the track.
Congrat's on successfully running the track without incedent...you did good.

Thanks. I learn a little more every time. Very instructive to see what real drivers can do. I will post up some pics when I get a chance to download them from my phone.
However, 40+ cars in the groups.....that was getting pretty crowded. A few laps felt like parade laps. Still....another super fun day, so no complaints! |

As a comparison for your times, we usually run 2:05-2:10 laps in the green group.

Yeah, I saw those times....I got a long way to go. Best lap I could squeeze in on the non-parade laps was a 2:29
I asked about bumping up to orange and they said there were already at least 41 cars in that group too. There are areas I know I can gain back some time if I just stay on the gas and I also stopped accelerating down the main way too early since I could not figure out a good braking point and was afraid of overshooting that sharp right at the end, but 20 seconds is a ton of time to make up....I need a lot more experience and skill. Watching you guys is helpful. Any suggestions are welcome! In any case, still lots of fun, even at my level. I was also plagued by fears of putting my 3 week old car into a tire pile or into the kitty litter. lol Took me a while to learn the track Last edited by SUNSET; 10-08-2012 at 03:58 PM. |

Which means I am really thinking I should have gone the Z06 route instead. Grrrrrrrr. Oh well....plenty of time to build some skills first and then make a change in the future. I figure the price differential will be well spent in replacing worn tires, etc. |

Yep, the C6 Z06 is a whole different monster.
You can't really appreciate the car until you actually own one and live with it. Test drives or driving/riding in a friends car just won't do it. That being said, the ZL1 appears to be a very competent car and would also be a lot of fun to heave around the track.
