Back-up Camera Recommendations Wanted

We love our new C5. Of course, the only problem is rearward visibility. Can anyone recommend a good (and hopefully custom-designed for our Camaro) back-up video camera and monitor?

They have an already produced/installed rear camera setup?

Check out Mito's LCD Mirror with On-Star capability - http://www.mitocorp.com/auto-dimming...a-display.html

I considered this back in the summer - the mirror + camera would've run about $650 installed - passed not so much on the cost but got use to the mirrors.

If you email Mito's sales they'll tell you who sells their product locally.

Note: That page indicates it does not support the Camaro rear-view mirror harness yet and they are still working on a solution.

Whatever you end up with, stay away from those cheap, wireless solutions.

Good catch - as I considered this back in June they didn't have any experience on the Camaro so this was identified after my inquiry.

I really really want these!
How would a camera be incorporated back there?

Some of GM's newer cars have the rear view camera incorporated into an Onstar mirror. It's pretty sweet, completely invisible until you hit reverse. With the rear view being limited in the Camaro, I have no idea why GM isn't putting this as an option but I'll bet you money based on the success of the Camaro that a replacement onstar mirror with rear cam will be an option in the future, and possibly an upgrade GM even sells if they continue to be as cool about upgrades as they have been so far. (By this I mean it's a near miracle they sell aftermarket pdims, gets my hopes up).

As far as the default GM harness not being supported if you aren't afraid to splice wires this shouldn't be a problem as long as this company gives you a pinout for the mirror. You will have to wire a rear camera up tho.
