2014 v6 recall letter

I got a notice I needed to bring my car in to reprogram the computer. Im hesitant because im getting 25 mpg on the highway and it is pretty respectable for a v6 on the power side. I do notice I have alot of steam that comes from the exhaust. I was told this was a emissions issue. Should I bring it in.

The computer controls so much more than engine functions, did the letter specify what the reprogram was for?

Which model do you have and when was yours manufactured? I'm curious if it was limited to a certain number of units manufactured or whether it effects all 2014 units across the line. I've received no such letter.

Mine is 2ls /1lt v6 with 2.90 rear. I dont know when it was built as I would have to dig through paperwork but it was delivered to my dealer december 13. I know. I ordered it. The dealer said it was for emissions re program. Onstar notified me about it before i got the letter. I am just worried about a reprogram messing with my performance or fuel economy. I really cant imagine it getting any better than it is. Not to mention now I got to uninstall the zex kit I just put in.

And to clear it up I am getting 25mpg average calculated myself and confirmed on the display. The display shows 38mpg at 70mph. I check this by resetting the fuel economy display with the cruse control on. I took pictures of this to show others who diddnt believe me.

There is another thread on this, and those that have had it done report their cars seem to run even better.

id bring it it. what would happen if you need to have warrenty work done and they find that you didnt have the cars computer updated like you were supposed to? im asking, i dont know.
but it sounds like a reason to deny warrenty work related to whatever they need to update.

They would just perform the update at that time.

If yours was on your 10 it's not the same as the one on the 14's.

They won't deny warranty work, but if you bring it in for any work warranty or not they will see an outstanding recall and perform the work anyway.

I know, the OP should find out what the re-flash is for.

I called it is for emissions. I am really hesitant about bringing it in. Im serious this car run very well it will beat my 98 vert SS with my wife driving the. vert. If I drive the vert I need yo on my game but it is a very close race. Not to mention this is an economy car compared to the 98.
