So with a 3/16" formed front window unless you are routinely seeing speeds in excess of 160mph this is not an issue whatsoever. Hope this helps. thanks for your interest!

we do not recommend 1/8" on the front due to the likely hood of the window flexing in at speed, unless it is braced.

+1
awesome post.

Got some more info for everyone about tinting. Jim said they can do 35% tinting which would be legal in 33 states but not the other 17; California and New York being 2 of them. He's looking into finding out if they can get a 70% tint that will work.

Here's the chart of legal tint percentages (as of 2010) for each state:

Name: Tint Percentages.jpg
Views: 2310
Size: 116.7 KB

The factory tint from GM is 70% and 12 of the states including California and New York require no less than that to be legal, so check the chart before you order to make sure 35% is legal in your state. Hopefully he'll be able to find a solution for 70% in which case all 50 states will be covered.

Doc, did you buy everything but the rear glass? I'm interested but not for the whole package, probably just front and side windows. What size did you order for the door windows, keeping in mind the weather sealing fit and all?

Edit: and just to clarify, HUD will still work just not be as bright?

Yes he bough everything but the rear. All at 3/16" - to fit flush with the factory weather sealing. Yes HUD works, just not as bright.

Yes I ordered everything but the rear glass. I ordered the 3/16 so everything would fit and seal correctly like the factory glass. Yes HUD will still work but not be as bright.

I'll add you to the list and you can tell Jim which windows you want. The group buy is for any single piece; it doesn't have to be everything. If somebody just wants to buy the windshield that counts.

UPDATE. Just got an email from Jim and they cannot do a 70% tint so this means for those who live in one of the 12 states (like me in California) that don't allow legal tinting below 70% there isn't a street-legal solution. As a result I'm canceling my order as I don't want to go to the expense of ordering these, getting the factory glass removed and installing Optic Armor windows only to have a cop pull me over because 35% is too dark and then I have to pay to have the Optic glass removed and replaced with the factory glass to get the ticket taken care of. Wish I lived in a state that allowed 35% tint. :(

He also said the price of the side-windows had increased since they had put that chart on their website that I included in my original post. I've asked him for an update on the current prices for those who live in states (33 of them to be exact) that allow tinting at 35% so anyone who wants these will know what the exact prices are; the original list in my first post is not accurate now according to Jim. I'll post the updated pricing as soon as I get it.

Doc, does Cali has a "tint waiver form"? I know VA has one. Might be away around the tint law.
