New cams for big power

I think we all can agree that, as far as off-the-shelf cams go, there are 3 players on the field that have had the highest HP ratings so far:

1.) LG - G6x3
2.) Lethal - Night fury
3.) TSP - 235/239

However, these cams are rather old. Not sure how old the Lethal/TSP cams are... I know a few years... but the G6x3 is at least 5 years old. Are there any newer cams out there that have been proven to make great power for the LS3? (490+ rwhp). I will be camming mine soon and was going to go with the G6x3, but I'm reluctant to install a 5+ year old design in my car.

Because something that's newer and works better could have come out? Computers from 2005 still work... doesn't mean everyone is going to keep using them when technology has advanced.

This is the V8 Engine, Exhaust and Bolt-On technical discussion sub forum. Not sure what other sub forum it would go in... But thanks on letting me know you're going with the G6x3 as that's my main choice.

i Understand how you are thinking but you cant compare a PC to metal cams, those cams are the best so far if there was a new cam that was better everyone would know Ls engines are in alot of vehicles, you might find a better software to tune or a better tune, but engine hasn't changed much to find a new cam that will work better.

I do know that the G6x3 is pretty valve train intensive. Do you plan on doing any fly-cutting (I know this cam doesn't require it, but I've seen some people do it just to be safe), or any other precautions (if there are any) other than making sure you have a good enough spring, pushrod and lifter combo?

Depending on how much you're willing to spend, I would check out one of Kip's (CamMotion) low lash solid roller cams. You'll have to upgrade your rockers and lifters.... in addition to the other components you'd have already had to upgrade, but I hear the power is out of this world.

Yep. Plan on doing the whole lot if I end up having to take the heads off to figure out this ticking noise. Springs, Pushrods, Lifters, Timing Chain, UDP, Trunion Upgrade, etc. I'll take a look at CamMotion and see if there is anything I like. Thanks!

CamMotion does have cams online, but if you call and talk to Kip, he will talk to you, find out what you want, run his magic number and get a cam that will be just what you want.

If you go with the low lash solid roller then you won't have to get the trunion upgrade!

Custom cam.

There are new lobes out that may fit your needs better. Cam lobe design does change, and LS cam lobes have come a long way in the past 4-5 years.

Off the shelf cams on the list id go LG anyday. There's more cams out there just not advertised as much these are. A LLSR is hard to beat at 550rwhp with heads not to mention the fastest cars on this list don't run no pre made cams.

I went with Cam Motion and modified LS3 heads, should have some numbers to post next month. ....91 octane and Arizona temps.

Lunati puts down good power and Crower will also grind you a custom cam.
