I actually just found a bulletin on the Scorpion Ice and Snows....and dang! They are expensive! I'll crunch some numbers and see what I can sell them for. |

heh, thanks.
any possibility of a group discount? With fall/winter fast approaching, I bet we could get a ton of LT owning forumites together for a group buy of the steelies w/ winter rubber. Just have a look at the buy/sell forum on this site, there are already a bunch of threads of people looking for exactly this. note: i'm not volunteering to organize such a group purchase. Have enough on my plate right now! :P Either way... I'm pretty interested... This is exactly what i wanted to have for the winters... just the cost is a bit higher than I'd been anticipating. |

insurance rates in canada make it unreasonable to have a beater for the winter. And you can't do seasonal either, you have to take the whole year of insurance. I've been quoted $1300 a year to insure a car worth approx $500 lol

This is the suggestion I got from Camaroscotty;
"From Dave in our parts department: Order the following parts: (4x) 92197458 18” Black Steel Wheels (4x) 12768826 Tire Pressure Sensors (4x) 235/55r18 Bridgestone Blizzak DM-V1 w/Uni-T The tires overall are .44” shorter than stock and a hair skinnier (better in snow). The speedometer will be 1.5% off (will read faster than actually going). This WILL NOT void the warranty, nor will it turn on lights on the dash, as long as the customer gets the new wheels/tires reprogrammed by a GM dealer (so it recognizes the new sensors on the car). Another cheap way to do this would be to replace the tires with the above mentioned snow on the existing rims, but you’re remounting and balancing every season……so ultimately, I’d go with the steel wheel option. Dave" |

Not true. You can remove all but the fire and theft at any point with most companies I know of. You just need to pay for the full year up front, then call them when taking it off the road. They will send you a refund for the remainder of the year (or adjust remaining monthly billings).
