15 Camaros stolen in Charlotte

15 new Camaros stolen from Charlotte car rental company

Posted: 7:12 am EST January 11, 2012Updated: 7:14 am EST January 11, 2012
CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are trying to track down the person who leased 15 brand new Chevy Camaros from a rental company and then took off with them.

Representatives for the Enterprise Rent-A-Car on IBM Boulevard told police the person closed the bank account after taking the cars.
The cars are worth up to $35,000 apiece.

Wouldn't you be a little suspicious when one guy rents 15 camaros? If they are $35000 a piece, than these were the V8s.

But to me this sounds like insurance fraud run by the guy who own that Enterprise. IIRC these are setup as local "Franchise" companies, so main enterprise doesn't own the local shops.

Untrue. Enterprise is a family owned company and they have direct oversight over each location. They have some REALLY strict hiring practices (A BACHELORS DEGREE just to rent cars! That's not even management level!)

lol.

Want to hear a funny story of the 3rd world?

Some guy found a government agency blank check, so he took it down to a car dealership and bought 30 cars with it.

Dealership didn't even call the agency to confirm anything lol.

Ended up being like a million dollar+ check... handwritten and signed by some dude hahaha. (for those that don't know government usually pay with printed checks ... not handwritten ones loool)

I do not think so. If they did I would rent one for a day or a week or a month.

I saw that on the news last night. It's funny the the stock picture they use for the story is a ZL1.

Good one. Actually though, when the Camaro was relaunched and we were all waiting and watching for the first ones to arrive, it was noticed that alot of the first go-round of new Camaro production was to a car rental company. I want to say it was one company based out of California, but can't remember the details. Many R6P cars went to car rental, which upset some people. But hey, they are paying customers too and had committed to buying alot of them.
