I ain't trying to be ignorant or anything. But you guys who are missing gears should of bought automatics.I originally ordered a short throw myself.I've slammed the chit of gears and ain't missed any yet ,and I've got 3500 miles on my car.Good drivers compensate.Sure I'de love 50% reduction. But deal with it.You guys suck.

Mine shifts fine! I was thinking about getting Hurst as I have had Hurst in 2 of my other cars, but I don't think I need it.

Easy man, I'm sure there are newbies that have missed gears but there are also seasoned vets that have missed them. You can express your opinion but lets leave out the you guys suck. We try to keep it pleasant around here.

I've had my share of stick shifts. I kinda like this one. The knob is huge but when I drive hard I dont hold it I pull back with two fingers and push up with my palm open. When I shift from 2-3 the shifter snaps to the right by itself.

The only mis shift I have had was I am driving rather lazily and not paying attention to what gear I am in.

I do agree with the comment about the squished baseball feeling of the knob. I may just replace that and see how it goes. I think the distance of the throws is rather short however (compared to my '97 Cobra, '76 T/A or '81 Z28).

Sorry if I offended you guys. But the fact is ,there is absolutely no reason to be missing gears in this car.If you are missing gears i would suggest taking your time for a few days or weeks or how ever long it takes to get use to the car.Could it be better ?Yes.But the fact is some people will never drive as good as others.I will never drive as good as a lot of other people.Oh and I have missed gears in my life. It's just been a helluva long time.

Been driving my 1SS for 8 days now, have the short throw on order, but to be honest have yet to miss a shift, throw is kinda long but works fine for this Cougar, and I have been kinda bad this early pushing her, she screams.

Hi,
I don't have any trouble with mine and I have been to the tracks 3 or 4 times. I think I have dozen of passes down the track and have power shifted each time, only missed third gear once.
I've had my drivers licence since 1980 and have been driving stick shift all the time. My opinion is that there is absolutley nothing wrong with this shifter.
What have experienced though, is that the trans is actually pretty stiff until it's up to operating temperature. I can feel a resistance shifting when the trans is cold.
Like attymf said: Pull with your fingers and push with the palm of your hand. Don't grab the shifter!

Shifts just fine for me - better than a 70 Mach 1 (4 sp Toploader) and 64 Vette (4 sp Muncie) did...... It's a muscle car, not a BMW or Ferrari...

I have been having more of a problem with the skip shift than anything else (or at least im assuming thats what it is). Ill get on it in first, almost to red line and try to shift into second but it just grinds exactly like when the skip shift is engaged....but the RPMs are WAY higher than they should be for that to be the problem..and it only happens every once in a while
