Thanks! That was fun! If you guys are ever in Tampa, let me know, I told Nick we'll be more than happy to take you guys out in the boat. Also, tell Nick to let me know when you guys are going to Panama.

I had been on the track in 20 years and then it was a 71 Chevelle with the 307. No doubt with the very limited mods I have this is a 12.9 or better car, unfortunately for it this weekend it had a 13.5 driver. We'll be at Phenix City, AL or Reynolds GA most Friday nights for a while, I think next year all our collective ETs will be much quicker. This was a hoot...

Lani:

I too am a total rookie with a bone stock L99 SS/RS and your time spanks mine! Like I told you in vendor alley, your "driving style" must agree with the car. My best time bone stock was 13.70 but it settled in at 13.8ish for further runs. I purchased the same CAI as you and then ran 13.47.

Did you run yours again after the mod?

Mighty-Mouse:

If I recall correctly, you "put-down" that nasty Mopar! The car looked and ran great and you drove the wheels off of it. All of us in the stands were cheering for you. Thanks for bringing it out. I am a fan.

Yea, I know for one of your runs I got to watch you get smaller, and in a hurry.

I raced my factory Camaro SS/RS with a full tank of premium gas against a V8 Hemi Challenger with some slight mods (CAI and I think he had a new exhaust too). We did three runs and I beat him two out of three, I flubbed the first one becuase I had never been on a track before in my life. However, I do know how to drive my car pretty well, I dropped it into m6 and tapped the traction control into sport mode (thanks Mark), avoided the water and I thought I did pretty well for a noobie.

Ov/Un... 13554

R/T ... .495
60 ... 2.095
330 ... 5.809
1/8 ... 8.834
MPH ... 81.71
1000 ... 11.403
1/4 ... 13.554
MPH ... 104.97

Note: He came to the host hotel parking lot Friday night looking for a girl to race in a stock Camaro. I warned him I was no "sissy girl".

I said I'd race him only because I liked the color of his car.

After "old Greg" in the Challenger gave up, hubby took my Camaro out on the track and raced a few times too, lost one and won one, both against a guy who had modified his Camaro but he couldn't get it into 2nd gear on the 2nd run so hubby won, but the other guys first run was 117... NOT stock! It does not seem fair that modded Camaro's were going up against STOCK Camaro's, it wasn't supposed to be like that, am I right?

If I had made 15 runs like some of the others I probably could have improved my time, but I had some shopping to do - detalils below:

My Camaro is officially no longer a virgin. I bought a CAI and had Jannetty Racing install it, then we we ordered the FlowMaster American Thunder Cat-Back Exhaust System. It's the closest I could find to what my 67 SS sounded like. I also have an online date with Defenderworx and ShowStopper Accessories. Just not enough time in the day.

What a blast the weekend was, can't wait till next year!
I saw one of the runs you made against the Challenger, you did real well

My husband and I were extremely happy with how the car performed. We never expected the car (with me driving it) to make it into the semi-finals. I did not win any money like one of the other guys, but I won a bunch of great new friends!

Thanks to all of you guys for your help and all the great tips that help make this a great experience for me! And Congratulations to FastLane and Midgard on their two beautiful fast cars. They are awesome! Go Panama!
My husband and I think you were awesome!!!!!!!! You go girl. I was yelling for you to win in the 16. Your a great driver
