1in drop? can i just cut the springs?
If i were to only want a 1in drop on a SS, can i cut my springs without any rubbing or unusual wear on any parts?

Springs dont cost that much, if you can afford an SS then you can spend 300 bucks on some springs lol

I personally wouldn't run a cut set just for integrity issues from small fractures that could occur. If you don't wanna splurge on new cost... wait for someone to throw a good used set up on local market place/CL... just my opinion

what does it do in terms of responsiveness? I'm just looking for a style, but performance is a good by product. also what did you get? springs cut or kit

I think the biggest risk with cutting springs is digging in to the spring mounts. Coils have closed (flat) ends and if you cut them you will then have a point. You could grind it flat to some degree but you still wouldnt have the nice large area to distribute force.
I want to say lowering springs also have a higher spring rate which can help compensate for reduced travel...but check with manufacturers on that one. Lowering brings the CG of the car down (and changes suspension geometry which is a whole-'nother mess). Ive got hotchkis lowering springs and they feel more firm than stock....but all i have to compare against is test drives. The springs were installed before i bought my car. I recommend saving for springs if you can, but either way get an alignment afterwords! Lowering will change camber at least and you dont want to put odd wear on your tires. Tire$>spring/alignment$

NEVER cut your springs, that is a very bad idea and you should just wait until you can afford the drop springs. As mentioned above, if you can afford an SS you should be able to swing $300 for springs.....eventually anyway.

No! Don't cut your springs.
Your car will ride like crap. Your car will handle like crap. I also believe the stock springs are progressive, so you can't cut them.

Ditto to what Rocketrider807 said. Don't forget to index the new springs and suspension after installing the new ones - before you tighten the suspension bolts. Start saving for the alignment you'll need to get after lowering the car. If you don't want to pay for the alignment, start saving for the new tires you'll need sooner than normal.

Remember to have your bushings timed when you do your alignment after the spring install. And yes, the progressive spring rates provide properly engineered ride quality and fitment on the mounts. You can get a set of Hotchkis 1" lowering springs from JDP Motorsports for $229. http://www.jdpmotorsports.com/hotchk...amaro-ss-19110 It will cost you around $3-400 for a proper install, timing and alignment.

Cut springs is just flat out incorrect, wrong, dangerous and should not be done. If you can't afford them...leave the car stock.
