Hammerhead rear for 1000hp camaro
Hey guys, my car is up and running, but my 9" rear is whining terribly. I have the option of installing new gears in the car, or going to a lighter weight hammerhead rear with less drivetrain loss. Just worried about the aluminum casing. The car currently makes 907whp on 109, and will make over 1000whp next year. Any reviews from high horsepower guys running the hammerhead?

I would just keep the 9 inch. A little whine wont hurt anything.

Unfortunately its not just a little whine. Its the defect of a lot of earlier 9" rears.

I went through 2 different 9" section before I found a shop to build me one that lasted longer than a month. My DSS had issues at first but Frank took care of the problems. I'm not at your power level but I plan on going there. That's why I went 9". The 9" is gonna have a whine on the freeway.

Why do they whine? Haven't people been building 9" rears for like 40 years?

Would a hammerhead hold to the power? Anyone running it?

I think we talked on the phone .I have the most power with the Hammerhead to date i think, over 800rwhp and a stick and its working great.IMO the hammerhead case will not be the limiting factor with the Hammerhead, the case is much much BEEFIER than the 8.8s we use to set ALL of the GTO records. We have three 8 second cars with one weighing in at 4000lbs..
