Law Firm? Don't let the people that hired you know that you need help making decisions like this.

Use your V6 as your DD, and then buy a Corvette as your weekend car. That's what I'm doing.

I'd daily drive a Hennessey or any other nodded car. Most of the guys here at work drive their blown rides on a daily basis. Those that aren't driving our fleet test cars at least. I bought my Camaro for my enjoyment not the next guy that might buy it some day.

I have a 2004 Cavalier for my daily driver and have 281,000 miles on it. I have thought of getting a Camaro LS as it will be very close to the MPG I get with the Cavalier, 30-33 MPG. Tires will be your biggest maintenance hit between the two.

I wouldn't, not due to enjoyment factor, but there's a part of me that dies when I see them with a ton of miles on them. I get plenty of enjoyment out of it, as I am sure they do and that is what matters after all.

I DD mine but my commute is maybe 4 miles, I'd buy the heap and run it into the ground in your situation. Plus you're out east, right? Probably a lot of sh*tty weather days you'd avoid exposing the Camaro to and that's always good.

Thinking about it, no, I wouldn't advise buying another car. It sounds like money you might not really have if you're worried about the marginal gas savings between your V6 Camaro and an older economy car which might get 30-35 depending on condition. That's not a dig at you at all, just trying to point out the gas savings isn't all its cracked up to be, and there's not a lot of value behind keeping miles off your Camaro. Another car is going to cost you in maintenance and insurance. The Camaro is pretty efficient and is going to be reliable for quite some time.
I definitely wouldn't take on another loan. A bank isn't going to give you a great interest rate on a car that old, and depending on your credit, you might not be able to get a second car loan. Third...you're taking on a new job. Get a couple of months under your belt, feel things out, think before making big decisions and purchases. You might find that it's the greatest job ever, OR, it could turn out to be something you can't stand--and can't get out of immediately because of finances. Good luck, congrats on the job, I do 80 miles roundtrip daily, it's not that bad once you get used to it (provided traffic isn't too bad). |

Yes, I am east coast, we have a ton of potholes I've seen trucks loose tires/wheels in, our road sucks, so I really try to avoid driving it around much, if I can plan a decent route that has decent roads, I'll take it somewhere, but thats about it. Our weather sucks too.

I bought an RS v6 because of my commute. I drive about 75 miles round trip every day. I wish I had sprung for a V8 after the fact.

I would just drive the car. I would personally be inclined to remove the vertical doors because of the possible unwanted attention it would draw at the firm, but thats your call. You should be able to get decent mileage and enjoy your drive. Our 1LE is a daily driver, but only about 20 or so miles per day, but we have over 26K on her in just under 2 years.
