Really close to pulling the trigger on an RS V6 BUT
I'm just slightly worried that I'm going to love it for 6 months then wish I got a V8 again. I have a winter vehicle already so that part is fine.

If you want a V8 wait and get the V8 don't even Pi$$ away your $$$. When I purchased my V6 I knew that is what I wanted since mine was going to be a daily driver I did not want or need a V8 (I have a V8 Camaro in the garage) but just make sure you spend your $$$ smartly.

if you can afford the V8 and don't mind the additional costs such a gas and maintenance, then get the V8. I have a V6 and love it, but def envy the V8 and hope to get one in a few years

Is it going to be a daily driver? How long is your commute? Are you someone who's more prideful about what you drive?
Auto V6 for something more towards a daily commuter. Manual V8 for strictly a weekend play toy. Factor in all that and pick a model based on your needs. I have a 60mile/day commute and I wanted something more economical than my supercharged V8 so I went with the 6 after an overnight test drive. Sometimes I wish I had the V8 for the fun factor though. Either way, I like the Camaro so much I'd rather have a base LS than no Camaro at all. I say if you're "on the fence" between the two, just get the 8 and be done with it. I'll say that I stress A LOT less over gas with my V6 Camaro than I do with my Lightning. The Lightning takes about $30 more to fill up and my seasonal trip to the MX race in upstate NY takes two fill ups in the Lightning and the V6 Camaro makes it there and back home with only one fill up with a quarter tank still. So it was a major gas saving for me and it's still a prideful car to own and looks great with the RS package. Love those 20 inch rims and halo hids... But I know a manual V8 would be so much fun as a strictly play toy vehicle. |

The real question is, V8, or LE1, or ZL1 Supercharged? Or Supecharged w/spray? There will always be a next step up. Find your level of contentment and commit to it! We have a v6 and love it. The 8 would be nice at times but $$ at the sticker, pump, and insurance agent are all factors. If you're not good with contentment and going to regret the decision 6 months from now, then go 8. If you're going to regret the smaller checkbook in 6 months, go 6. I think they are all great!

Just make the decision based on whats important to you, not what you think others will think!

If you want a Camaro and don't care much about performance, the get the LT (there's nothing wrong with this...the *vast* majority of drivers on the road are in the 'don't care much about performance' category). If you're buying the Camaro as a daily driver and already have a performance car, get the LT. And just to add, the LT is no slouch. It's quicker than most of the cars out there, but it doesn't compare to the SS.
If you care about performance, get the SS. If you think that down the line, you'll wish you had a V8, get the SS. If you care enthusiastically about performance, get the 1LE. If you have to have a ZL1, you don't need us to tell you that. The cost difference for fuel and maintenance between the LT and SS is not as much as you might think (A coworker and I have identical cars, except his an LT and mine is an SS. Our MPG is almost the same - and often I have better MPG. It depends on your commute and right foot.) The big difference is the up-front cost. Unless you are seriously stretching your budget, the fuel cost is not a big factor. The mere fact that you are asking the question, suggests that you should strongly consider the SS. |

Just get the v8.. I got my 6 in December and thought "should of got the v8!" not long after..
Whatever works for you tho, the v6 worked for me at the moment because it was 7-8 grand less than the v8.

If you're thinking even a little bit about a V8, hold off. Make sure what you buy is exactly what you want and can afford.
