Question
Why do i always see people pressure washing their engine bays? I knew you aren't supposed to but never understood why people still do it.

Bad decision making/lack of education I guess... the same reason some people still use bathtowels to dry their cars, or wash exclusively with dish soap... or in this ladies case, blast the interior with a pressure washer LOL!

Honestely if you tone back the pressure on the wand, use a broad pattern fan spray, and keep it far enough away the pressure dissipates and you don't get much more than a misting effect into the engine compartment.

For example my pressure washer is 2000psi - at jet settings it'll take skin off your hand up close, but if you go to a broad fan tip up close it would still hurt, but about 8-12" from the tip the water is nothing more than a fog.

I think that's what's cool about this method, you don't have to buy anything more than what you already have. You should already have APC for tires, blonde brush for wheels, and VRT for tires/trim. Those are the main products, then all that's left is a can of In-N-Out which I'd consider optional, and Metal Polish if you have a metal intake tube.

At least that's my opinion on it.
I see your point, plus that's gotta be over $200 of product and supplies and most people won't see $200 as worth it to clean under the hood.

WASHING INSIDE OF CAR WITH PRESSURE HOSE

[QUOTE=Dylan@Adams;2414636]Bad decision making/lack of education I guess... the same reason some people still use bathtowels to dry their cars, or wash exclusively with dish soap... or in this ladies case, blast the interior with a pressure washer LOL!

Hey now, I saw a couple at an auction a while back who bought a mini donkey and 5 chickens..They loaded them all up, loose in their mini van with 4 kids and drove home..Now that van would need a bit of pressure washing inside after that trip!

I am surprised she didn't hose down the kid while she was at it. Easier than a bath...

She looks like one of those chicks you always see in those "Photos from WalMart" emails that your friends continue to spam you with.
