What's the final word on Brembo issue?

My VIN#16429 still has the weights on the brakes. I thought they would have fixed this by now? Anybody in the higher VINS not have the weights?

I couldn't find them on mine (#17348) I'm guessing I'm just not looking in the right place. I'll have to check again if they were still on the 16,000's.

I think they're here to stay. Are yours painted? If it's "fixed" it will probably be with an equivalent weight molded specifically for the job.

Okay, I looked closer last night and I found them. They are higher up on the brakes than I expected. So, false alarm on them not being there on higher VIN's.

Every Camaro we've gotten has had the weights... the only way to get rid of them would be to re-design the calipers.

They are there to address an unwanted harmonic. By changing the mass of the caliper it solves the problem.. well at least it moves it out of range. lol

Everything you say is true, but obviously the addition of the wheel weights was a last minute quick fix, as John Fitzpatrick indicated, and those with the weights should have the option of having the redesigned calipers installed ASAP.

Good luck with that.. lol

There's nothing wrong with having weights on the calipers... it doesn't make them work better or worse.. it's not unsafe.. they only look stupid.

I doubt GM will spend millions recalling all the calipers just so people don't have to look at weights.

However.. I would think that, given the harsh conditions of heat and vibration, that the glue will eventually fail and the weight will come off.. then again, maybe not.

+1... as much as I'd like to have a set of brakes with not weights... I doubt they'll go for it... them suckers aint cheap!

The newer design calipers will not be making their debut until the late fall. Just buy the new one's when they come out if you can't stand the site of the weights.

You're joking....right ????
This is an apparent design flaw so GM or Brembo should be making the correction FREE OF CHARGE !!!

The only flaw is that it doesn't look nice. The calipers do exactly what they are supposed to do.

Why?

They work great.. they are perfect functional.

They are only there to elimante some sort of noise. Heck, you could most likely remove then and never hear the noise. They are pretty picky about the sort of stuff.

You might as well argue that they should give you new wheels since it's obvious the stock one are flawed since they need so many weights.

Don't you think you're being just a bit dramatic? I don't think a couple of weights on a caliper compares to duct taping on an exhaust system.
