Discount if I pay it all?

I am planning to buy a 2011 camaro ls. I was wondering if a dealer would give me some discount if i pay it off the day i buy it.

What is a good price to pay for a Black 2011 automatic ls?

Thanks,

Cash always talks... My son got his 2011 LS automatic for 23500 with stripes and he did not pay cash...

Don't know if you hand them a check or your bank will help in a deeper discount. It does tell them you're serious and ready to buy, remember that will not be your final price... they'll upsell extended warranty, car proofing, kitchen sink etc etc

Best way is to know exactly what you want in your car, and do a little research on the upsell stuff to decide what you want. All of it is negotiable.

My dealer would not give me a penny off and I paid mine off the day I picked it up.

I actually had a salesman tell me the dealership prefers when people finance through them rather than pay "cash". Don't know if that's true or not, but I did not get special discounts for paying cash.

They want to make money off interest payments, so you are worse off if you tell them up front you want to pay cash.

I wouldn't think that you would get any better of a deal. I wonder if the dealership sees anything from the banks that finance the cars from them. Almost like a finders fee (but called something else). But the dealership will get its money anyway you pay so there is no incetive for cash.

Above two posters, I doubt the dealership makes money on interest but probably makes a small kick back.

The kickback is paid for using the interest you pay the bank. If the bank didn't get interest there would be no incentive for them to loan money and no money for them to kick back.

It's all coming from the sample place... the buyer.

A lot of the time the dealership gets a kick back on the interest you pay to the bank for the loan on the car (pretty slimy if you ask me). So if you pay cash you're worse for the dealership which means they'll be less likely to deal.

No - the dealer actually looses profit when you pay cash. Count on less of a deal. You would be far better off negotiating a loan / deal with them then paying that loan puff asap.

I have recently learned about the sliminess of the interest rate game of stealerships.

I will NEVER get financing through a dealership, (Unless it is zero percent, and only if the 0 percent vs whatever my bank would give, is enough to take it in leu of the factory rebate)

No,, let them think they are financing for you, during the negotiating process.

Get the lowest price you possibly can.. then Flip it on it's ear,,and Bam,, out comes the Certified Check

I prefer not to take out loans for depreciating assets...

Decide what you feel is the correct price for the car with the options you want...

Then go into the dealership and tell them what you want....and how much you are willing to pay...

There is not a lot of room on the new camaro....so figure give or take a grand off msrp and thats about what you'll pay..

fwiw..there is usually a bank fee with taking out a loan...that paying cash you can avoid.

Good luck with your upcoming new car! The camaro is an awesome choice.

JB
