I just assumed Ford didn't have random parts in reserve just in case of a Z/28. Is this what is rumored that is supposed to be an answer to a Z/28, or is this just pulled from a Ford Racing Parts catalog that can be optioned on a current GT500?

I view the market for the Z28 as mostly comprised of people who will not be scarred off by a few more dollars and or a few less mpg. This car should make a statement and the statement should say that the Camaro is the top dog. If you want a Camaro with awesome HP, awesome price and good mpg you can always opt for the SS. I love mine!

Maybe... But what about Gearing? Suspension? GM needs a track pack or a similiar version of the SVT Perf Pack for their Camaro ans Z28. When and if the Z28 does come out!

beating the GT500
My SS will beat the GT500 after it comes back from Livernois and that is only if "if" I can drive all that HP , should be close 575 RWHP , there is much more I can get from it if I open the engine for new heads , cam, etc !!!

price not being all that much of an object, I would go for all out power, but the styling must remain top notch.

After reading through this thread I wanted to put my two cents in (for what it is worth). First the "base" price of a GT500 is 46,725 with the HID lights the price goes up to $48,100. These numbers are not debatable since I just got them from the FORD website. A few things to remember is that the warranty on powertrain is only 50,000 miles not 100,000, the base price on a 2SS/RS is 35,995 which is 12,105 less.Just think of all the upgrades that can be done for that much money. This is the situation I was faced with when I decided what to buy. I chose the Camaro because the lower initial price allowed me to customize it to blow away a GT500 and still have plenty left. Just imagine what could be done from a factory standpoint with that amount of $$$$ to spend per unit. If GM just takes the stock SS platform, upgrades the suspension and drivetrain, makes a few cosmetic differences the car that rolls of the line would be awesome.

I think that anybody who thinks the Z/28 is going to be under $50k is going to be very disappointed. This will be a niche car not intended for the masses. So in order to make a profit on this low volume ride they are going to need to charge more. I love my 2010 GT500 and call me what you want for having it ,but this car has a lot more than just a motor that makes it great and so will the Z/28. These things come at a cost that to me is worth every penny. It means a lot more to me to have factory modded muscle that is unmolested and with full warranty. I don't really care what it cost as long as it lives up to the hype.

IMHO, the Grand Sport (both in performance and price) is where the base C7 might start. |
