Supercharged 6.2 potential?...
http://www.leftlanenews.com/chevrole...e-numbers.html
"Chevrolet introduced us to its ZR1 super Corvette last January at the 2008 Detroit Auto Show, but didn't have any concrete performance numbers at the time. We were promised at least 100 horsepower per liter — meaning a minimum of 620 horsepower — but were left to guess just how far over that magic equation the LS9 would be. But the hyper 'Vette is back from testing and we now have a definitive answer. According to the Corvette ZR1's SAE Certification, the 6.2L supercharged LS9 motor pumps out 638 horsepower and 604 lb-ft of torque — proving Chevrolet officials were sandbagging back in January. The ZR1's fuel economy ratings aren't in yet, but GM assures us that range-topping Corvette will be the most fuel efficient 600+ horsepower car in the world — a rather strange distinction. With nearly 640 horsepower on tap, we can't wait to see the ZR1 go head-to-head with some of the world's best." Now I know we aren't getting this motor but I think this might help put some perspective to any possibility of a supercharged 6.2 in the car. I'm more excited than ever!!!

Here's another link for info':
http://www.autoblog.com/2008/04/25/o...and-604-lb-ft/ "When Chevrolet officially announced the new Corvette ZR1 just before the Detroit Auto Show this year, it hadn't yet finished the certification of its new power-plant, the supercharged LS9. At that time, all the engineers would tell us was that the supercharged 6.2L V8 would produce a minimum of 100hp/L or 620 hp. Three months have passed since we got our first official look at the LS9 and the numbers are now in. According to GM, the LS9 has now been SAE Certified at 638 hp and 604 lb-ft of twist. The official EPA fuel economy testing hasn't been finished and for people who buy a ZR1 it probably won't matter anyway. Nonetheless, GM expects the LS9 to be the most fuel efficient 600+hp engine in the world, a dubious distinction if ever there was one. A special team of technicians will be hand-building and testing the LS9 at GM's Performance Build Center in Wixom, Mich. Check out the articles below for all the details on the ZR1 and LS9." There's more too if you scroll down

Oh sweet mother of God. The ZR-1 will beat any european car that costs under $250 000, on any track -and do it all day long.
Long live the pushrod!

I am very eager to see a heads-up comparison with the GT-R; stock-for-stock. I bet that car isn't but a little pulley, tune, and long tube change away from 700 horse.

yes but the ZR-1 will have the GT-R V spec to deal with. The Z06 contends with the regular GT-R. Also, I agree that it won't take a whole lot to make that extra 62 hp out of the LS9.

Good point DG; I forgot about that car, LOL (I think I wanted too, LOL!) I hang out on Digital Corvettes from time-to-time and some insist that equal tires, stock-to-stock, would be pretty dang close between Z06 and GT-R. I'm eager to ZR1 versus GT-R V; that'll be a close race me thinks.

It's also possible that the Camaro will have a nuclear-powered reactor that does a 0-60 faster than the NASA space shuttle, but that would be speculation also.
Until GM leaks it, I don't trust it. This would be very exciting, but I wouldn't expect to see this next April.

The fastest euro car is not the Enzo, it is the Bugatti Veyron. 1001 hp 8L quad turbo W16 engine. It is rated at 253 mph and was the worlds fastest production car. The current record holder is the american made SSC Ultimate Aero TT at 256 mph, though it is said to be capable of ~270 mph. Its engine is a 'tweaked' LS6 -it makes nearly 1200 hp.

i still say if you flip the LS9 upside down it reads 657 which translates to the horsepower if i could have it. lol i think if someone were to do a lil tweaking on the tune of the motor they could pull off my magical number

MutherFenARight!!! I'm not suggesting we'd have a possibility of an LS9, just that these 6.2s are friggin' sweet
