Malibu SS was just stupid. TrailBlazer and Silverado SS were basically just engineers being bored and shoving performance engines into trucks. I'm not opposed to that but it did continue the trend of whoring out the SS badge to anything that just had a bigger engine in it.

Equinox was even supposed to receive SS badges when the 3.6L V6 first went into it. GM finally realized how dumb of an idea that was and badged it "Equinox Sport."

The current lineup has a lot of room for SS models though. Sonic already has stellar handling characteristics and GM's new 1.6T would be a perfect engine for a Sonic SS, Cruze could borrow some bits from Verano Turbo, Impala could use the upcoming LF3 and Hi-Per Strut.
I can agree with these plans. The Sonic already has aggressive enough styling to earn some enthusiasts, and the new Impala is awesome. I'd like to see a LNF-powered Cruze SS 2-door hatch, but that's asking a lot.

I also agree that the quality of some past SS models wasn't outstanding, but the current durability standards at GM far exceed those for all vehicles before 2006. At least the Impala SS was too powerful for its transmission. It's not a fun problem to have, but it is better than having a sluggish vehicle badged SS.

If the headlights were bigger it would be a pretty attractive SUV. This is just...odd.

I really don't know what they were trying to accomplish with that front design.

According to Chrysler, these are old builds and the design has actually been changed slightly since the photos were taken.

It reminds me of early 2000's cars where the bottom portion of cars was replaced with plastic fascias, it was a horrible trend and hope it doesn't return. Similar to most two-tone factory paint jobs.
