Ls1 ram air intake for 5th gen Camaro..

I miss that intake set up from my 4th gen and have been thinking about making this work on the new car...the link below has a hood that could work because the scoop is close enough to the front..its the closest to the actual SLP hood ive seen..anyone else tried this or considered this?

I think you'll have a hard time getting the air from the scoop to your intake pipe. There are a couple scooped hoods that have pathways molded in to move the incoming air to the OEM location. These hoods work very well with the the open top CAI's. I also don't see a way for water to be drained off, when it rains. The above mentioned hoods do. I think it's a decent looking hood but you'll have to do a lot of fab work to get it to do what you want. If you have the time, parts, and ability to do it, go at it.

Where can I find info on the hoods that do route the air to the OEM location?

Nickey Chicago has the stinger hood and SLP has one as well. RK my have one too, not sure though. If I had the $$, i'd be sporting the Stinger for sure.

Thats why i was talking about using the LS1 intake set up, the front facing intake that is straight forward instead of the bend to the side..

There are MANY problems with that setup though. There's not much room between the opening and the TB. In that area, you need to drain the rain, straighten out the airflow, add in a PCV tube, and put a MAF in. All this and keep from throwing codes and causing driveability problems. You just need to look at the problems that New Era and VR were having with their OTR CAI's. It's an ambitious project but if you have the ability, make it work.

RKsport's "Ram air" hood does exactly this, with ducting to drain water as well as two heat extractors. Click the picture in my sig for more pics of it.
