But I didn't skimp on the suspension. I went with Pedders Supercar Coilovers, bushings and rear sway bar which are the most expensive but are on the fastest Camaros out there. Suspension mods were $5700 installed. Engine and exhaust upgrades, install and dyno tune were about $7000, plus another $1000 for engine dress up goodies (got a little carried away there, think I spent too much but it looks damned good). CCW Wheels were $3600. These are total prices including all the necessary extras, fluids, shipping, tax and install. The Hawk DTC pads are excellent for the track but are noisy as hell on the street and lack cold bite. With winter coming up, I wanted a pad that worked for the street as well, because I probably will only do 1 more track event in the next 4 or 5 months. Ron Fellows Corvette School has switched their fleet of Vettes to HP+ pads and has had good success with them, so I thought I would try them. They worked fantastic for Buttonwillow. At some tracks that are harder on brakes like Laguna Seca, I may need a more serious track pad like the Cobalt Friction pads. When the stock rotors wear out, I'll probably switch to Racing Brake rotors, which are 5.5 pounds per rotor lighter than stock.

All you really need for the track is a brake fluid flush with Motul 600 or similar high temp fluid. Bone stock down to the sticky Goodyear F1 G2s, they are wicked fast. Hope you can join soon, I'm tired of being the only Camaro on the track.

Congrats on all of the new mods. That thing has to be a beast on the track. I think everyone should track there car some time. I never thought I would have so much fun until I tracked my car for the first time. Keep up the great work.

Just read your build thread and have a question: how much louder is your car with the mufflers deleted compared to an NPP car? Just curious.

Before I did long tube headers it was a little louder then the NPP. With the LT and muffler delete it was way to loud.

Good deal, I'm planning on a little Christmas present to myself: Buttonwillow Dec 21 - 22. Buttonwillow gets almost no rain. So provided it's dry and there's no mud from a recent storm, I'm there. Hope you can join me, I've yet to run with another Camaro, believe it or not.

Hmm ... Buttonwillow is closer than Tahoe! And my 1LE can't make it to Tahoe in the Winter .... SO ..... December, eh? I'll have to convince the wife of this one. I need to slow man group. My car is pure stock.
Where are you in San Jose? I'm in the Cambrian area. |
